ADC names Dilip Singh president software sys. unit

MINNEAPOLIS: ADC on Wednesday announced that Dilip Singh will return to the company as the new President of the Software Systems Business Unit. Singh brings more than 30 years of telecom software industry experience, including prior ADC executive experience. He will assume his duties on May 12 and report to Rick Roscitt, ADC's chairman and CEO. ADC's Software Systems Business Unit develops, markets, installs and maintains operations support software (OSS) used in telephony and data networks. Its primary customers are telecommunications service providers and large corporate enterprises worldwide. The company's Singl.eViewT software is a complete revenue, transaction, billing and service management solution sitting at the core of the OSS and business support systems. ADC's Metrica software provides performance management and service assurance for wireline, wireless and data networks. The company's success in winning software business stems from a focused approach on wireless, Tier 1 and Tier 2 telecommunications providers as well as enterprise customers. As an industry veteran, Singh's wealth of software and technical expertise is perfectly suited to lead the Software Systems business. In addition, his familiarity with major telecom carriers and equipment vendors, combined with his venture capital and entrepreneurial experience at start-ups and early stage companies will benefit ADC and the executive management team. Prior to his most recent position as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at M/C Venture Partners, Singh served as President of ADC's NewNet Division, a telecom middleware business acquired by ADC in 1997. From 1988 to 1994, he served Sprint Corporation as Executive Director of Intelligent Network Systems Development and Application Engineering. In 1987, he co-founded the United Database Yellow Pages, Inc., India. From 1972 to 1987 Singh served in a variety of consultative and technical roles at NYNEX Corporation, ITT Corporation - Europe, GTE Corporation - Belgium, and Cambridge Scientific Instruments - England. Singh holds a Masters of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology and a Masters of Science from the University of Jodhpur. He will assume his duties on May 12 and will report to Rick Roscitt.
