ABB UK picks TCS for ERP Implementation
Bangalore: Tata Consultancy Services [TCS] has carried out an SAP ERP implementation for ABB UK, consolidating the company's Finance, Human Resources and Operation function into a single SAP ERP system. This will help ABB to reduce complexity, standardize business processes and system and to make better use of data. Bringing these operations onto a common platform will help in central data management and information sharing across business. This information sharing and transparency will also help in quick access to accurate data about all stocks or all business. "Harmonizing these processes has not only given us faster access to information, but stronger collaboration and sharing of best practice across divisions and business units. Overall this means it has given us greater agility, alongside the obvious cost-savings," said Bill McLaughlin, Chief Financial Officer, ABB UK and Ireland. Earlier, company's 14 UK business units used eight different ERP systems, built up through acquisitions and local implementations over a 20-year period. The TCS's SAP ECC 6.0 implementation including configuration, customization, training, post go-live support and program management will now help ABB UK to deliver better service. This transformation program will also help the company reduce cost, due to creation of standardized platforms and common infrastructure, in addition to lower cost of maintenance and integration. This transformation was done with little disruption to the services of ABB. "The highlight of this successful SAP enabled global transformation program was the great degree of collaboration between the ABB and TCS teams," said Milind Lakkad, Global Head, Manufacturing Industry Solutions Unit, TCS.
