2: Hi Myself Naren, my suggestion is that people looking for a job in software side must remember that When u get a call from consultants regarding openings, ask them for Job description and prepare ur CV according to that, this would help u in getting ur dreamjob, and try to make as man friends as possible in the same field, and follow the suggestions of only one person.

21: I am 1000% agreed with Tanuja.
Updating CV in the specified format is just not sufficient. One should be lucky enough to catch hold of a good consultant who is a good friend of the HR guy of the organization. No matter how smart you are, how good your CV is, how experienced you are...... It is all in the hands of the HR guy and his so-called friend (consultant).

Posted by: Somasundar K - 24 Feb, 2010

39: nice job sir.a good article.
But i would like to add something more...
1.Emphasize about the things that you think the best describing you as well as the best for the post you are applying for.
2.Generally HRs look for any work experience, educational qualification, projects assignments(if any), summer training apprenticeship(if any),
3.And a very non conventional thing --first ask yourself why a company recruit you not others. Then only you can make your cv as required.

Regards

65: Hi this is Arun, thanks for ur valuable information.. can u send a format of freshers resume....
Posted by: Arun - 22 Feb, 2010

66: There are some essential points--like one should know what is to be included and to be excluded as well.
Here are a few tips--
1.Always start with your latest job,or the current job -- if you are experienced --or your current activity in education or training etc --since recruiters are only interested in your current status to assess your skillsets.
2.Always try and link your current skills and aptitudes to the job for which you are interviewed --and establish in clear terms your suitability for the job.
3.Never try to be artificial and give false information about your achievements in any activity --curricular or extra curricular . Just give in simple terms what you think are your plus points --even if it is one or two , be honest about it.
4.Do not try to show off what you are not --in the name of self confidence . doesn`t mean you have to be diffident or exhibit lack of confidence . Just feel yourself as you are and tell them what you are . Recruiters -- --will always appreciate honesty much more than any thing.
5.A student of mine once said --a CV is a hard copy of what we are --how true! So try to project a correct picture of yourself and if you do not know something , accept it . It is great to accept weaknesses than cover it up .
6 there are no ideal CVs --but one can say what is not a good CV than what is ideal .

104: Really a good information to know about the CV which provides an opportunity to get a job. In comments section I found that many guys are still looking for a sample of CV and these are the common attitude among the peoples. I would like to share with them that please go through once again the article and try to get the meaning of the article. It simply says that a CV is nothing but a presentation of your personality as well as it must be easier to access. It is only you who can present YOU in a better way and no one else. Please go ahead and try to present yourself in such a way that one look would be enough to recognize your personality. You can do miracle. Trust yourself and try. You are the creater of the movie of your life. You shape and mould the life you live. You create your fortune and misfortune. Education is manifestation of perfection which is already in men. Education is not doing carbon copy but to experiment with. You may burn your finger while doing experiment but that would be more valuable and worthy than the carbon copy.

130: You are absolutely right.Grammatical mistakes and spelling mistakes are common.Sentences which make no sense also add up to the mistakes.Again here I would like to point out that is it right to say "A HR Manager" or "An HR Manager".This article itself has a lot of mistakes in it's context.I hope even HR manager's will realise the fact that they have to improve a lot and they must be the best to review a candidate's language and capability.

150: In my experience what one should do is :
0. On top write ur name and contact info
1. write career objective
2. write a brief summary of what all u have done and your major achievements that can help ur prospective employer. better point by point.
3. write ur technical skills (dont think writing many of them will help). write only those things which u know properly. writing too many skills may cause problems in interviews.
4. if u are an experienced professional write ur yrs of experience and name of organizations where u worked.(freshers's skip that)
5. educational qualifications
6. all the projects in which u worked along with the duration and summary of ur role in that project.
(freshers can write summer training and academic projects in this section)
7. personal details, i.e. age, marital status etc

If some one thinks it can be enhanced please reply back to my msg .. it will help all the people who are reading this newsletter ..

also do u want to change ur projects from electronics to SAP .. (officially its not possible in India, untill and unless u do some specialized course on SAP from some renouned institution, that too make u a fresher in SAP :))..
unoficially .. I have heard that many small companies give fake experience certificates along with some hands on experience on SAP ..
so its all upto u what u want to retain .. real u or faked one :)

you must go through the news paper daily as well as you must watch English News Channels, and speak to yourself in English, standing in front of the mirror & start reading English Novels. The best way to teach you is you yourself, no software or communication classes could help. Have faith in you & start using what you have learnt, in your daily gossips or communications with people.

I have seen many CV's where a good english speaker or reader can understand difficult words by which we can creat immpression on them, but some cannot understand this. So is there any way to write a CV which can be redable and understandable to all?
Posted by: Ankur Maru - 20 Feb, 2010

205:Hi Ankur,

Your CV is not a place to test your vocabulary or test others word power. It is place to demonstrate your achievements and skills that you bring to the table. So using very tough English words is not he best way to impress someone with your CV. Your achievements and skills take up the first page and you can put in the personal info on the 2nd page that should be good enough. All the best.

So, he does not see the cover letter. He also have a bunch of C.Vs. So , it is not bad to have mentioned the time at C.V. itself. However, it impress the Manager of having descipline and planned. Prehaps, you may also have experience, if you call someone anf if he does not receive the call. So, don't be tence and keep it in your C.v.

Updating CV in the specified format is just not sufficient. One should be lucky enough to catch hold of a good consultant who is a good friend of the HR guy of the organization. 239: Updating CV in the specified format is just not sufficient. One should be lucky enough to catch hold of a good consultant who is a good friend of the HR guy of the organization. No matter how smart you are, how good your CV is, how experienced you are...... It is all in the hands of the HR guy and his so-called friend (consultant).
