Past failures and/or health problems

Your CV is not the place for you to talk about past failures or health problems, so keep them off paper. Some people may argue that almost everybody has the sense not to write about failures and health problems on CVs and while I agree with them, it's been known to happen.

Current or expected CTC

Many people have developed the habit of writing about their current salary or expected salary on a CV, as they assume that all prospective employers are going to ask about it, or that most job notifications require it. It is advised not to mention it on the CV, unless specifically asked to do so.

Vague/unclear contact details

Picture this situation -- you have a menu card from a nearby restaurant in front of you. You like the dishes they serve and the price is right too. You are impressed by the fact that they deliver within 10 minutes. You pick up the phone to make a call, but are not able to find the telephone number on the menu card. You look a second time, but you are still not able to find it. You're hungry and there's another menu card from another restaurant right in front of you, which looks equally good.

What will you do? Won't you immediately place an order with the restaurant that offers a number and ask them to send the food ASAP? Later, you may realise that there was a phone number on the first menu card, hidden somewhere in a corner, but the opportunity is gone now. You may land up in a similar situation if your contact details are not clear or not easy to find for employers. Some other things to note here are:

? Provide a phone number where potential employers can talk to you directly and don't have to go through your parents or friends.
? Keep the e-mail addresses formal - mostly a combination of your first and last name
? Keep the e-mail address small and uncomplicated to avoid any typing mistakes if employers decide to contact you online.

Writing a CV is not a difficult task. The best person to do it is you. The only thing you need is to analyse your candidature properly and present it well. You will need to draft and re-draft your CV many times before you are finally happy with it.

4.Do not try to show off what you are not --in the name of self confidence . doesn`t mean you have to be diffident or exhibit lack of confidence . Just feel yourself as you are and tell them what you are . Recruiters -- --will always appreciate honesty much more than any thing.
5.A student of mine once said --a CV is a hard copy of what we are --how true! So try to project a correct picture of yourself and if you do not know something , accept it . It is great to accept weaknesses than cover it up .

4. if u are an experienced professional write ur yrs of experience and name of organizations where u worked.(freshers's skip that)
5. educational qualifications
6. all the projects in which u worked along with the duration and summary of ur role in that project.
(freshers can write summer training and academic projects in this section)
7. personal details, i.e. age, marital status etc

also do u want to change ur projects from electronics to SAP .. (officially its not possible in India, untill and unless u do some specialized course on SAP from some renouned institution, that too make u a fresher in SAP :))..
unoficially .. I have heard that many small companies give fake experience certificates along with some hands on experience on SAP ..

Your CV is not a place to test your vocabulary or test others word power. It is place to demonstrate your achievements and skills that you bring to the table. So using very tough English words is not he best way to impress someone with your CV. Your achievements and skills take up the first page and you can put in the personal info on the 2nd page that should be good enough. All the best.

I work in night shift as i work as a production engineer.
I have seen many missed calls and when i call them i found that they were either placement consultants or some office phone no.
If i am asked to send a CV , i attach it and write that please call me after 4PM as i work in shift.

Is it OK if i write in CV . How to address this situation. I keep phone it silent at morning as i want to sleep and dont get disturbed by the tele marketing calls.

Next to telephone no give your preferred time, give also your email address.
If you find any missed call, before you go to sleep 9am to 10am call them and see for luck is waiting for you.

no its not right, you have to sacrifice for that, C.V.is a document which give complete image of your profession and if you write please call me after 4PM as i work in shift. It shows that you are not a hardworker or you cannot handle the tough situation. C.V.Should be clean describing only about your profession.

Vijay has a very good advice, But let me clear you specially for the production dept. , The production Manager selects the job which is forwarded by the HR Dept. So, he does not see the cover letter. He also have a bunch of C.Vs. So , it is not bad to have mentioned the time at C.V. itself. However, it impress the Manager of having descipline and planned. Prehaps, you may also have experience, if you call someone anf if he does not receive the call. So, don't be tence and keep it in your C.v.

As a recruiter, I dont see any issue in mentioning a good time to reach you. It's better than to miss calls. Make sure it's mentioned in the end of the CV.

246: Enough of such stuff--I know of lots of so called recruiters who do not know the difference between --say ADVICE &ADVISE --and with horrible spelling knowledge of even common words . How do they figure out if there is a bad spelling or grammer --Many of them do not know any grammer or grammatically correct English and are in the interview panel --such is the quality of English Knowledge available today . Less said about it , the better .

I agree with the views expressed by Raj Vaidya. Some times job interviews appear a total farce. There is qualty control for interviewers. If good candidates are to be selected first we should select excellent interviewers to make the slections meaningful.But the moot point is who is interesetd in good selection?

Updating CV in the specified format is just not sufficient. One should be lucky enough to catch hold of a good consultant who is a good friend of the HR guy of the organization. No matter how smart you are, how good your CV is, how experienced you are...... It is all in the hands of the HR guy and his so-called friend (consultant).
