Bangalore: Despite many businesses not faring well this year, some company heads have taken some daring business decisions, which will result in successful moves in the coming year, reports Shyamal Majumdar of Business Standard.

1)Mukesh Ambani:

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of Reliance Industries, bought 95 percent stake in Infotel Broadband in 2010, which proved to be very beneficial.  Infotel Broadband is a broadband service provider and has recently got permission to provide 4G services in India. It provides 20 MHz of spectrum in the 22 Telecom Circles of India and currently enjoys the largest share of spectrum than any other Indian Telecom company. The 4G services are scheduled to be launched in April-June in 2012 and will provide a host of features, like - plug-in USB modems, set-top boxes which unify TV channels, on-demand video and video conferencing. It is also planning to launch a couple of tablet PCs, in about 35 towns in 2012. Reliance Industries is going to give competition to other prominent players in the market through its Pricing Strategy. It was revealed that its broadband services will be priced at 10 per GB for the tariffs. Ambani, however, needs to tackle one problem – according to regulations; domestic calls from one phone to another cannot be made with the help of a Voice-over IP. However, calls can be made from one computer to the other. In order to achieve this, Reliance Industries will have to tie-up with another telecom organization and most people say that it will be Anil Ambani’s company.
