2. Krishnarajasagar Dam:

Built in: 1924

Height: 125 feet

Location: Mysore, Karnataka

Importance: This dam reservoir is the main source of drinking water in Mysore and Bangalore city inhabitants.

Krishana Raja Sagar dam is built across Kaveri River in Karnataka state of India. Named as Dakshina Ganga, Kaveri is one of India’s major rivers originated from Western Ghats in Karnataka. The famous Brindavan Gardens is attached to the Krishna Raja Sagar dam. Brindavan Gardens is a show gardens with a botanical park where you can enjoy fountains and boat rides beneath the dam. The dam is named after the ruler Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV of Mysore Kingdom of that time. The water released from the dam is the main source of water in the other South Indian State, Tamil Nadu.
