49 Percent Of The U.S. Visas Are Issued To The Indians
Bangalore: 49 percent of the H-1 B visas are issued by the US to the Indians every year amid all H-1 B visas stated Nicholas Manring, chief of consular services, US consulate general, Chennai to Times of India. At an interactive session on US visa guidance by Bangalore Chamber of Industry and commerce the US consulate general expressed that there is a misconception that many visas are rejected. Nicholas further said that "Due to strong diplomatic and business ties, we have actually granted more visas to Indians. Due to Homeland Security restrictions in disclosing data, we are not able to give exact figures. But we try to grant as many visas as we can," added Nicholas. The non immigrant visa chief of the consulate Michel Cathey said lack of articulation by an applicant often leads to visa rejection. "We do over 2,000 interviews a day. When a visa is applied under the category of special skills, the person should be able to convince the interviewer what the special skill is. You have to be articulate," said Michel. The bureau cleared the air on many issues. To a query Cathey replied in special cases, an email to the consulate prior to application would help a great deal as they would be aware of the situation and the needful would be done.
