Thiruvananthapuram: A verbal retaliation from Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan against the family of slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan for not allowing Kerala ministers enter the house to convey their condolence has added insult to injury of the family.
A day after Sandeep's father heaped scorn on the chief minister and Kerala's home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who visited his Bangalore home on Sunday, Achuthanandan said, "Not even a dog would have visited the house, had it not been the martyr's.
"Is there a rule that the chief ministers of Kerala and Karnataka should visit together? Our attachment to Sandeep's family is special. Should not Unnikrishnan, a soldier's father, understand this?" the Kerala chief minister asked.
Achuthanandan and Kodiyeri had called on the commando's parents to convey the state government's condolences. The decision to travel to Bangalore came following criticism from parties like the BJP which accused the state of insulting the martyr - a Keralite - by not sending anyone to attend his funeral. There was a partial hartal in parts of Kerala when even former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein died, the party pointed out. Politicians of all hues from Karnataka were present in full strength at the funeral.
But the attempt backfired when Sandeep's father refused to let them into the house. The furious father used harsh words before asking the duo to 'get out' of his house.

1: Mr.Unnikrishnan was shouting "poda" "poda" to
the Chief Minister of Kerala visiting his
house. He compares and contrasts the delayed
visit of the Kerala CM to the timely visit of
the Karnataka CM, who lives right in
Bangalore. The Kerala CM's visit would have
been under whatever circumstances, but I
don't think it warranted the kind of
inhospitable behaviour he displayed. After
all the Kerala politicians did not cause his
son's death. Their visit was only to express
condolences. To me it looks like Unnikrishnan
is one of those hypocritical Mallus who have
picked up another identity and dislike being
seen as a Mallu.

2: The chief minister of Kerala is the
democratically elected representative of
Keralites. The CM talked to the family of
Major Sandeep over phone and expressed his
condolences and the intention to visit them
on his way back from Delhi where he was put
up at that time.
On the second day of the funeral Mr Achutanandan did not visit Sandeep's home as an individual from southern Kerala, He did not visit them as a politician. He did not visit as a communist party member. The visit was made as the elected chief minister and the representative of all the people of Kerala. He visited them as MY representative.
Sandeep's family recieved the CM of Karanataka with the kind of respect a people's representative deserve. But, in our case, the representative of Kerala was greeted with abusive words and was insulted before media. Our Chief Minister, Home Minister and their guards conducted quite well through out this episode and didn’t cause any commotion at Sandeep’s home. It was quite wrong on the part of Sandeep’s father to behave that way to anybody (even an individual let alone the representative of a state)
Sandeep’s family plays no part in the democratic / legal / economic / social process of Kerala (They have votes in Karnatka, They have legal rights as the "Permanent residents of Karnataka", They earn and spent in Karnataka. They live in Karnataka society) Hence it was proper for the CM of Kerala to make a call to the parents of the martyr, sent one of his officers for the funeral and make a visit the family along with one of the ministers in his cabinet within a few days of the funeral.

3: I feel that Chief Minister of Kerala is not
at all a human being, who can understand the
human feelings, suffering from death loss.
None can compensate the emotional loss.
Father`s love and Mother love was not yet
felt by the Kerala CM. He may not have born
to human. Sandeep`s parent missed him. But
the words of the Kerala CM clearly proves
that he is in politics, but not for the
people, but to lead a luxurious life by
receiving salary and allowances may more than
One Lakh rupees per month. His behaviour
states that he is a indecent fellow, worse
than a illiterate. T.Hubertson, State

4: The truth is somewhere out there. The media,is
responsible for leaking out 'selected'
portions of this sad episode so that they can
enhance the menu to attract and sell more.We
have some extremely, mentally twisted,media
personnel with much lesser moral values than
the politicians.When this unfortunate nation
is under constant threat from terrorists, the
Jaichands are busy scuttling every effort by
the common man to survive.Major Sandeep's
family belongs to one of the 15 million
families whose son, father, brother is a
serving soldier.By disgracing that family by
some politicians ( what ever excuse these
people give) can not be ignored or
pardoned.Protocol, precendents,and other
ettiquettes are not only for the Defence
Services, the politicians must also follow
that, be it Mr.Yadiyurappa,
Mr.V.S.Achutanandan,Mr.Narendra Modi,
Mr.V.Deshmukh, or Mr.Patil.One thing I am
certain is that Mr.Unnikrishnan do not want
any publicity or votes unlike these
politicians.Decorum, and decency influences
me not to comment the style of functioning of
these media personnel like the "TIMES NOW"
reporter who knew Mr.V.S.Achutanandan's
mental caliber, education and IQ.
When Mr.Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter slapped one of the press photographer in public, there was not even a whimper from the media personnel.
My salute to all those who lost their lives in the 4100 or more terror attacks on India.
I hope and prey that one day these same media personnel will publicly wash the dirty linen of every member of the defence force including Lt:Colonel Purohit?

5: I would like to comment on the issue very
nutral. Recent issues, let it be anything,
like terror attacks and its aftermaths are
being poitically motivated by parties and
media. I think the ongoing havoc is little
too much. Actually when on the day the
incedent took place CM of the state was in
Delhi and he sent his rep to Blore and CM
himself called up father of the martyr
Sandeep to convey his condolences. Sandeep's
father over acted by saying that he will not
allow any politicians to his home and he will
suicided if someone try to visit his home.
This statement can be understood as he is the
victim's father. But when CM and HM visited
Blore, unnikrishnan, Sandeep's father said
'go away dogs'. this also can b understood as
he is under pressure. CM reacted when Times
Now reporter asked him 'Whats your opinion
about Sandeep's father's comments about Go
away dogs'? . This is the situation when CM
said if not Sandeeps home, no dogs will visit
here. He had been provoked by his father. He
might not have thought that this particular
portion will be hilighted by media. He
regreted on his comments and Sandeeps family
apologized too. Now what? Why you media
behind the issues already been finished? Do
you require Kerala CM to quit on this issue?
He wont hesitate to do so. It is not
important as AK Antony, whose service men
failed to stop the trawlers with terrorists
used our water secured by our so called navy
and coast guards. It is not so important as
Deshmukh still clinging on power even after
his home ministry failed to follow the
security warnings from mere fishermen. Leave
Kerala CM alone

stoop to???

8: Please forgive the Kerala CM.. He doesn't
even have basic school education... infact
the entire kerala govt. is a group of
illiterates who dont know when to speak
what... we regret having elected them to
power... Please dont treat his irresponsible
words as the words of keralites...

9: VS should control himself. it's true that
Sandeep's father insulted the CM of a state.
But as an experienced communist leader and
the head of a state, he should show some
patience.

10: It is really painful to hear such comments,
when integrity and unity is need. The Kerala
CM should understand the position of the
father who has lost his for the nation. It
the parents brave and diginity that should be
saluted for giving their son for such cause.

11: At first kerala CM should not have used such
harsh words. But Sandeep's dad cannot totally
evade the blame. He should have showed the
minimum decency of allowing these dogs in.
His son has gone behind the great cause of
the nation and gave away his life. The father
should not cause to demean the respect gained
by Sandeep.
