Government to expand mobile phone services in rural areas

New Delhi: The government Wednesday said it will soon launch the second phase of mobile phone expansion, covering about 200,000 villages.
"With this, mobile services will cover all habitats with population of 500, and about 11,000 additional towers will be installed under the scheme," the Department of Telecom said here in a statement.
The details of the scheme are still being worked out and locations of the towers being identified, it added.
Under the first phase, about 7,900 towers, also called infrastructure sites, are being installed in 500 districts spread over 27 states, the release said.
Out of these, almost 6,000 towers are being installed by the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL).

Its not fooloshness...
If you think about it from a different angle , its an improvement in
infrastructure.
As its clear that metros ?Urban cities are getting over crowded, and can't
provide employment that easy, so now we have to look into the options to shift
the employment to less populated areas.
But just think why an MNC will come to a place where there is no communication ,
no power and other things which they require to run their business equally
efficiently as in Delhi .... ?
So this step will lure them to value engineer their production costs when they
can find cheap resources with all the facilities to them , and soon the
employment will start rising in the graph. People will have more purchasing
power and their living standard will be improved .
So lets look forward to this step.....

Our villages are also going mobile. But with out the basic amenities making them
speaking over mobiles is nothing but foolishness.
