CLARIFICATION: In the initial version of the story, it erroneously reported that the study on the compensation landscape was conducted by India Semiconductor Association (ISA). The corrected version says that the study was conducted by Careernet Consulting. ISA is not connected in any manner with this study. The error is regretted.
Bangalore: On an average, EDA companies are the best paymasters followed by Analog design firms and EDA professionals receive 32 percent higher salaries over other domains in the semiconductor space, says a study conducted on the compensation landscape by CareerNet Consulting, a recruitment services firm.
The study established changing trends in the product and service companies. There was a salary increase by 33-34 percent as industry professionals' progress through various roles and levels in the organizational stack. The product companies are also paid 36 percent more salary than service companies.
The report titled "Compensation Trends in Semiconductor and Embedded Design Services Industry" further stated that compensation was found to be more for the 3-5 years experienced professionals than for the 0-3 years experienced professionals.
Thomas Sebastian, President and Managing Partner of CareerNet's consulting business, who led this study said, "This is a timely study that provides interesting empirical insights into semiconductor industry compensation trends in India, where we expect the existing challenges associated with availability of talent to intensify; it is crucial that companies in this space be prepared for such challenges."
Rishi Das, CEO of CareerNet Consulting said, "The robust growth of the Semiconductor and Embedded Design Services industry in India has resulted in strong demand for high quality talent, the influx of fresh engineering graduates and upward pressure on compensation packages in this space."
Over 300 industry professionals representing companies ranging from startups to established global companies participated in the study from the across the country.
The semiconductor and embedded design industry is growing with a predictable annual growth of over 21 percent. 82 percent of the total workforce employed by the Indian semiconductor sector works in the embedded software space and generates 81 percent of the overall revenue. Evidently, the EDA companies endow more pay than any other IT company.

Agree. Even this year most of the employees in EDA companies are not satisfied
with their "Salary appraisal".
with their "Salary appraisal".

Nothing seems to be new in this study. Moreover, this doesnt indicate any
positive changes in the EDA industry. A salary increase by 33-34 in the current
scenario looks more of a desperate attempt to save their existing employees from
being poached by Non EDA product companies who are doing much better rather than
anything unique happening in EDA industry.
