Burlingame: BitGravity, a provider of next-generation Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) for interactive broadcasting, has announced that Blake Krikorian, Sling Media's co-founder and CEO has taken a seat on BitGravity's Board of Directors and joined other investors in BitGravity's initial funding. Founded in 2006, BitGravity launched the first affordable HD and Live CDN, and recently announced a strategic global partnership with Tata Communications.
"Blake transformed the way we watch TV with the invention of the Emmy award-winning Slingbox. He has been very successful enabling leading media players with new business models and innovative technology and continues to be at the center of the Internet media revolution," said Perry Wu, CEO and co-founder of BitGravity. "We are fortunate to have strategic investors whose knowledge and relationships in the media, communications, and technology industry will be invaluable to BitGravity's growth," he added.
"Building a network and suite of technologies from the ground up with video delivery at the core has enabled BitGravity to set a new watermark, making Live delivery, HD-quality, and Interactivity part of the new standard for online experiences. This isn't your father's CDN," said Blake Krikorian, co-founder and CEO of Sling Media and BitGravity Director.
Krikorian is co-founder and CEO of Sling Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EchoStar , a digital lifestyle company. A visionary leader whose company was named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, Krikorian sits on the board of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), received the Technology Leadership award by Broadcasting & Cable, was named one of the 25 most influential people in mobile technology (Laptop Magazine), was recognized as an innovator who has changed the face of travel in the 21st Century (Travel & Leisure) and named to Business 2.0's "50 Who Matter Now" and Forbes' "E-Gang" lists.

Blakes move shows that he believes in BitGravity as a leader in the CDN space.
TATA as well have given their endorsement. I wonder how quickly this all changes
things. With AT&T trying to ramp something up and shares of limelight and Akemai
going all over the place, now would seem the best time utilize this partnership
to TATA's advantage as the space matures in the cloud, not after it has. What an
exciting time for TATA to grow with the BitGravity CDN. I look forward to more
announcements regarding what this partnership will be delivering.
