London: A British millionaire has posted on the internet details of what his wife got following their divorce to stop people from portraying him as a man who abandoned his family.
Gary Dean, who runs an affluent advertising business, set up a website The Truth About Helen Louise Dean v Gary Dean because of the 'Chinese whispers' circulating about him. "Much of this is circulated and perpetuated by people who haven't got a bloody clue of what the truth is."
According to the post on the site, he has paid his ex-wife Helen a cash lump sum of 3.7 million pounds. He is also financing her Mercedes and Audi convertible. Besides, he has agreed to pay 15,000 pounds a year for each of their four children up to the age of 17 to cover all school fees and to allow Helen to keep her jewellery. Lastly, included in the settlement is his former wife's "cherished number plates - 7HD and 10HD".
Dean, who has a new younger partner who he insists was not connected to the break-up, said he had been portrayed as a "ruthless tight b******" who had abandoned his 46-year-old wife and children, leaving them destitute. So he came up with the net idea.
Helen too has a new partner now.
"It may not stop people's tongues wagging, but at least they can stop telling lies about me," he told The Telegraph.
