HCL's Shiv Nadar receives Padma Bhushan
New Delhi: Shiv Nadar, founder of $4.5 billion HCL, one of India's leading IT firms, was presented the Padma Bhushan, the country's third highest civilian honour, by President Pratibha Patil Monday.
"It is an honour to receive the award from the president. It is recognition of the efforts of every HCL employee who has supported and contributed to the growth of the company and in its journey from a barsaati (terrace room) to a global enterprise," Nadar said in a statement.

Comment 1: Dear Mr Nadar,
I am very happy to know that you have got the Padma Bhushan award yesterday. Actually to be very honest with you I think you deserved this award almost a decade ago. You are the person who has changed the image of Indians and had shown the world that Indians has got good brain and they can beat the best brains of the world provided they are given the right infrastructure and basic needs. It is your sober, down to earth nature that you are giving the credit to all the employees of HCL. You are very lucky that you have got a wonderful team and you had given them all the freedom to take the full risks while going for the new ventures. You have lead your teams from the front. I am very proud that I had also the opportunity of working with one of the BEST ORGANISATION of India.
I am very very sure there will be many more awards coming to you from other parts of the world.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,
D S Gill
