Bangalore: Biotechnology firm Biocon's chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw late Tuesday unveiled a radiology training centre at Teleradiology Solutions (TS) facility in India's silicon hub.

Purported to be first-of-its-kind in the country, the centre, christened Rad Gurukul, will train and refine skills of radiologists, technologists and those involved in healthcare IT.

Teleradiology services include interpretation of non-invasive imaging studies, namely CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine studies and digitised X-rays.

TS provides emergency reports within 30 minutes to locations across the globe.

"As prevalence of disease is rising alarmingly due to changes in lifestyle and diet the world over, especially in India, clinical trials radiology is imperative to prove the efficacy, safety and affordability of any new treatment," Shaw said on the occasion.

"Rad Gurukul will be an ideal training for future radiologists and telemedicine experts," he added.
