4,000 Infosys' employees resign last month: CLSA
New Delhi: Now with the job markets opening up after the slowdown, the huge demand for talent in the IT market has resulted in 4,000 employees in Infosys giving their resignations in the month of February, according to brokerage firm CLSA. The usual attrition numbers is around 1,200 employees in a month.
In a note to its clients, CLSA said that there is quite a bit of industry chatter that 4,000-4,200 employees have resigned at Infosys in February. This is not officially confirmed by the management, but multiple sources are claiming the same number, including industry blogs. However, Infosys group HR Head said it was not true, reports Times News Network. "The information is grossly incorrect. Attrition has been increasing in the past three months and this is largely because after two years, jobs are picking up. But the 4,000 number is not true," he said.

"With business coming back strongly, hiring has picked up on a war footing. TCS and Infosys have the industry's best training programmes, and the relatively dissatisfied category of employees here are the prime targets for poaching," the CLSA note said. But CLSA said the spike in attrition was no cause for concern as such spurts of hiring and resignations are normal in the IT industry, at the start of an upturn. Besides, Infosys is best placed to rapidly deploy programmers in case of such exits, as it has nearly 20,000 free resources right now, possibly the largest bench strength in the industry.

1: I think this is just the begining. Infy has
very serious people issues to manage, the
oldie ESOP gang are at the top layer who are
neither good at technology nor management.
Infy treats them like kings and they are too
fat and incompetent to move elsewhere. This
layes smothers the new lateral managers with
IIM and US MBAs, by there sheer "Vintage
Value", as a result good people leave within
a couple of years. The place works on "Lower
employee ID is right" principle and can not
foster the culture of merit in present
circumstances.
The venture into consulting and Core banking product is prooving to be a collosal failure and should have served as an indicator to correct things but seems like no one is watching.
This state is pretty painful as i love the company but really sorry to see it being sabotaged by the "Loyal" ESOP employees.
I wonder if NRN can do something even now.
I am a Senior manager with a Global bank and i was pained to hear my IT people's view about Infy in a recent meeting. The news is out and there are people who hold very strong opinions against Infy at very key position. The arrogance of sales guys is not helping much either.
The place need a very strong and quick effort to clean it's act. I still believe Infy can do it.

3: A typical "Demand" & "Supply" situation
which surfaces during periods of both
economic upswings and downturns..Not very
surprising when leading IT firms like Infosys
witnesses such high attrition especially
during times of an economic revival and
rebound, prompting job seekers to test and
explore the market more aggressively with
search firms scouting them vigorously with
lucrative packages. The moot question here is
how many IT cos are willing to enter into a
broad shared understanding or general No
Poach agreements between themselves to arrest
this undesirable trend which would eventually
be in their own long term interest.

4:Why is this trend undesirable?
And why are you suggesting that companies form a cartel to prevent giving benefits to employees while they discourage employees from forming cartels (unions)?

5: Why you guys are talking about Infosys only!
Have you any idea, how the other SME IT
companies are facing, where HR policy has
been declined by some nonsense (forcefully
created) Company policy?
Their conditions are horrible, in one aspect, they are not given the right salary and on the other hand NO HR RULE IS APPLICABLE FOR THEM! I believe Government should ask them for their poor organizational structure and take strong decision.
KIND ATTENTION - Jit : You are absolutely right. now company should understand the real physique of an employee.. not only their salary.. but also their very small emotions and personal attachments.
Anybody there who can throw us some light on the actual HR policy for the SME IT sectors, as well as the IT giants?
I believe no HR person will dare to disclose now.
All are dumb now just to show their superiority.
How long will it go? HOW LONG?

6: As an infoscion, I know the kind of treatment
that we got from the management during
recession period. It's not only the salary,
but also the policies (A special mention of
I-RACE) that make this place hell for
employees. Employee satisfaction is replaced
by employee engagement by the management and
HRs. What else can you expect from the
employees other than high attrition rate.

8:how is that relevant? the people who are
leaving are going to other serice firms, not
other industries.
