3i Infotech to open 12,500 retail stores in a year

New Delhi: The global information technology firm 3i Infotech has launched I-SERV, a brand for its retail services. Under the new brand, the company will offer a range of value added services through 12,500 stores across nine Indian states including, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Delhi. All the stores will be opened in a year’s time. With the new initiative, the company plans to target consumers, specifically in the remote rural areas. The firm will deploy technical infrastructure and manpower support to deliver services related to banking, insurance, mobile, education, ticketing, and utilities. "Rural India houses more than 70 percent of India's population and the I-SERV initiative represents a unique opportunity to employ technological capabilities for bridging the existing urban-rural divide," said Anirudh Prabhakaran, executive director and president, South Asia, 3i Infotech. I-SERV stores which will also house a training manual in local language will benefit between 300 to 3000 households by offering a bouquet of products & services. The I-SERV stores will be managed by trained operators covering the remotest rural areas in North, South and West. The stores will be equipped with the latest IT infrastructure including PCs, scanners, Web cameras, photocopiers, telephones and 24x7 connectivity, to ensure maximum utilities to the customers.
