3 Indian cities emerge among IT/ITeS hotspots
Ahmedabad: India's technology knack is established through the emerging cities as three cities of the country are identified to be emerging IT/ITeS hotspots. Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Nagpur have been enlisted among 31 cities emerging cities globally for the information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO) industry. The list based on international consultancy firm KPMG report, 'Exploring global frontiers - the new emerging destinations,' asserts that the cost of living in these three cities is relatively low as compared to tier-I cities. Commenting on the report, KPMG global partner-in-charge, IT advisory, Egidio Zarrella said, "Though established locations may still be considered as epicenters of outsourcing, entities are beginning to look at alternative locations due to favorable business environment, access to a good supply of talent, good quality of life and lower costs." In the Asia Pacific region the other cities that have been featured include Brisbane from Australia, Changsha and Hangzhou of China, Penang of Malaysia, Davao City and LLoilo City of Philippines and Ho Chi Minn City of Vietnam. "Cities identified in India (Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Nagpur) have the benefit of learning from the success stories of the large cities in the country and have the potential to emulate this success," KPMG Sourcing Advisory services in India Partner-in-Charge Viral Thakker.
