25 business leaders in running for entrepreneurship award

NEW DELHI: Twenty-five of India's top business leaders have been selected as finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award that will be announced here on October 9. The 25 finalists include Jagdish Khattar of Maruti Udyog Ltd., Radhika and Prannoy Roy of New Delhi Television, Bollywood producer Subhash Ghai and dairy expert Verghese Kurien. The award is in its fifth edition this year. "This award programme is unique. It is the only process by which Indian entrepreneurship is catapulted to the global scene," said Kashi Memani, chairman of Ernst & Young India. The seven-member jury that will select the winner includes Infosys chief N.R. Narayana Murthy, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and Business Standard editor T.N. Ninan. The winner of the award will represent India at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year International Conference at Palm Springs, Florida and at the world Entrepreneur of the Year award 2004 in Monte Carlo.
