New Delhi: Increasing popularity of social networking sites, blogs and media will lead to a radical change in the way not only companies but also the government functions and there is no escaping from this, said Sunil Bharati Mittal, the chief of India's leading telecom company Airtel, Friday. "This is going to result in very high transparency and that will result in very high degree of accountability," said Mittal at the Confederation of Indian Industry National Conference and Annual Session 2011. "24X7 real time information is flowing and it is not from 500 to 1,000 channels, its flowing from the power of four billion devices that sits in the hands of many people both privileged and underprivileged and this is only gonna grow," he added. Mittal also said that the third generation (3G) mobile telephony service and broadband wireless access (BWA) will also act as drivers for this change. "The shift that you are gonna see in the coming year or two in terms of 3G, broadband wireless access is gonna dramatically alter access of information and delivery of public service in this country," he added. According to Mittal, this is something which can be taken as an opportunity or a threat but cannot be escaped from. "Accept it because there is no escaping from this." Millions of people tweet their minds and are on facebook and many are putting up blogs. "Companies who will not make dramatic shift in this area will not be able to deal with this transparent world," he said.
