NEW DELHI: Twenty-one Indian companies surfaced in the list of the top 100 companies emerging in developing economies prepared by the U.S.-based international strategy and management-consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Apart from Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Satyam Computer and the Reliance Group, new entrees like Bharat Forge and Crompton Greaves also featured in the elite list. The pleasant news, however, was to see five of India’s auto companies making it to the RDE-100 list, besides the IT sector which includes Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra and Bharat Forge. The BCG study of emerging market leaders titled The New Global Challengers foresees these companies to become the multinational majors in the 21st century, earmarking a radical transformation in the industries and markets around the world. India stands next to China (44) in the number of companies featuring in the list and yet scores over considerably in participation from the IT, automotive and pharmaceutical industries.
