There was an unencrypted file sitting on our iPads and iPods and was collecting and recording location based information, our movements. Apple already plagued by security issues was forced to provide a free uninstalling kit to yank the deceptive recording system out of the players.
PlayStation Network Hacked
Hackers targeted Sony’s PlayStation in April 2011 and stole personal data of subscribers amounting to a humongous data breach. 77 million subscribers were left scampering for their data and this data breach was significant as intruders had stolen names, addresses, email addresses and birthdates for so many customers. Recorded as one of the largest breach in history, it took Sony a good $171 million to rebuild its computers and purchase credit protection services for its customers.
