NEW DELHI: A dozen Indian software companies will participate in the eight-day IT and telecom fair next week at Hannover in Germany. The Indian firms will showcase their services and expertise at the Cebit fair that begins March 12, said a statement by the Indo-German Export Promotion Project on Tuesday. Billed as one of the largest IT fairs in the world, the fair attracts 7,000 exhibitors and about 800,000 visitors from different parts of the world every year. Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have decided to make a pitch in the fair to attract foreign companies and investments in their respective states, said the statement. Dietrich Kebschull, director of the Indo-German Export Promotion Project, said Indian software makers could exploit vast opportunities in the German market by taking part in the fair. The German software market grew by over eight percent in last two years. Analysts say as the tech market in the U.S. continues to reel under a slowdown, the 27 billion euro German software and service market offers great opportunity for the Indian companies. India's software and service exports to Europe touched 71.40 billion in the last calendar year. Germany accounted for almost 9.50 billion.
