NEW YORK: A new study which could add to outcry against offshoring says that 18 companies, including 11 headquartered in India and two in Russia, are aggressively seeking US state government contract work, primarily in information technology in at least 30 states. The report, commissioned by Washington Alliance of Technology workers, says of the remaining companies, five claim to be based in the United States but have most of their facilities in India. Listed among the companies which, it says, include from small privately held to $1 billion behemoths, are Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computers, Tata group including Tata America international, Suriya Technologies and ICICI Infotech. Some of these firms, the study says, are bankrolled by American venture capital firms whose investors often include US pension funds.
