5) Worcestershire Sauce: FACT: Worcestershire Sauce is made from dissolved fish.

Worcestershire Sauce is a fermented liquid condiment, which is primarily used to flavour meat and fish dishes. The original recipe is closely guarded but basically consists of anchovies layered in brine, tamarinds in molasses, garlic in vinegar, chilies, cloves, shallots and sugar. The anchovies are soaked in vinegar until they are completely dissolved and then their bones are used in the sauce. The ingredient that sets Worcestershire sauce apart from most sauces is tamarind. Although often referred to as tamarind seed in recipes, it is only the pulp surrounding the seed that is used in the sauce.  Worcestershire sauce is often an ingredient in Welsh Rarebit, Caesar Salad, Oysters Kirkpatrick, Chili Con Carne, Bloody Mary and Michelada, the Mexican beer cocktail.

6) Popsicles: FACT: Popsicles were invented by an 11-year-old, who kept it a secret for 18 years.

In 1905, in San Francisco, the Popsicle was invented by an 11-year-old Frank Epperson. Frank Epperson was only 11 years old when he invented the Popsicle, originally named Epsicle. He had forgotten his fruit flavored soda outside on the porch with a stick in it. The drink froze to the stick and tasted nice. It took 18 more years for Epperson to apply for a patent for a "frozen ice on a stick" called the Epsicle ice pop, which his children re-named the Popsicle. In 1925, Frank Epperson sold the rights of his famous Popsicle to the Joe Lowe Company of New York. Good Humor, a subsidiary of Unilever, now owns the rights to the Popsicle.
