4. Bhaskar Bhat: He is the Managing Director of Titan Industries. He completed his B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras in 1976 and completed a post graduation in Management from IIM Ahmadabad (1978). He started his career as a management trainee at Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing in 1978. After five years he joined Tata Watch Project, initiated at Tata Press. Most of his work experience was in Sales and Marketing.

In 1983, Tata Watch Project became Titan Watches Limited, which is now Titan Industries Limited. At Titan, Bhaskar Bhat grew to become the head of Sales and Marketing and over trime he acquired various posts like head of HR, International Business and General Managerial Assignments. Unlike any other CEO, who wants to outsource their IT department work, Bhaskar Bhat believes in keeping IT in-house. He says, “It is the only way one can get the level of commitment to stay ahead in the marketplace”. He believes that IT is critical in two areas of operation: managing the supply chain and developing a strong understanding of what the customer wants.

Bhat is a member of the Governing Council at the T. A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal and the SDM Institute of Management and Development, Mysore. Bhat is also a director in Virgin Mobile India Limited, which is a joint venture of Tata Teleservices and Virgin Group, U.K. He has received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in IIT Madras in 2008.
