1084 management institutes emerge during downturn
Mumbai: The economic downturn and the staggering IT conditions haven't restrained the upsurge of professional institutions. The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has received 886 applications for starting engineering colleges and 1,084 applications for new management institutes. The country has witnessed an all time high in institutes dishing out management and engineering degrees. The AICTE data has shown that the craze for starting professional colleges for engineering and management is more than other streams like pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology or architecture, reports The Economic Times. The trend of starting engineering colleges is seen more in the South comprising of the five states Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala, which accounts for 69 percent of engineering graduates.
