Entrance : The main entrance of the house is one of the most important areas as it brings in the main energy. A property which has a door facing South West must be avoided as it is the entry of the devil energy and brings in struggles and misfortunes. The main door of a house should never be face to face with another house's main door. This is to prevent the negative energy from any other home coming into the house. Also, the main door of a house should always open into the house and never open outside which symbolizes that everything that comes into the house stays within. It is very important that the main entrance gets sunlight from the left side. This will ensure that no shadows ever fall on the front entrance. Light is positivity and shadow is negativity. So the positive energy of the house should not be blocked out by shadows. Outside : The surrounding of the house matters greatly in Vastu Shastra. Therefore, it must be ensured that the house bought is not only in a good living environment that is peaceful and safe, but also in the areas away from places with negative energies. It is wise to buy a new house than a used one, as a new house will not have any history or negative energy. Also, a house should not be situated near a temple, hospital or cemetery as it brings negative energy. It should not be situated between two larger plots. A valley or big pit around the plot is inauspicious. A house with wide open area in the east or north direction may be auspicious as such surroundings bring many business and job opportunities. It must also be ensured that the flat is regular or square in shape as they bring good luck for the residents. Square shape is the best. The four sides of the plot should be towards four main directions. Irregularly shaped plots are inauspicious. T, Y and L shaped plot are considered unsuitable. However, if the plot is of uneven shape, one can create perfect geometry inside the plot called Vastu fence. Bedroom : According to the Vastu principles, the bedroom in a house has to be located in the South direction. Location of the bedroom in the North can cause turmoil in the family. Also, the bed in the bedroom should be placed facing the South direction or the West. It is strictly suggested that one should not sleep with their legs towards the South and dine in their bedroom to avoid bad health. Cluttering bedroom with idols and books should be avoided. If required, one can keep them in the South or the West direction. Dining Room : The best direction for a dining room is the West. It should not be aligned with the toilet door. Kitchen : Be it an independent house or an apartment, it is always important to check if the kitchen is in the right direction in the house. The perfect direction for the kitchen is the South East or the North East corner. Constructing the kitchen in the mid-West, Southwest, mid-South Northeast, Mid-North directions must be avoided. Suitable colours for the kitchen are soft pink, green and orange. Elaborate storage systems must be installed to avoid chunking up goods. Living Room : The suitable direction for the living room can be in any direction depending on the structure of the house. The furniture of a living room can be placed in the South or West direction and should allow free movement to other rooms. One can place a lamp with red or orange light or decorate the room with positive paintings and pictures which are considered to flow positive energy.
