BANGALORE: Bollywood superstar and heartthrob of millions, Rajesh Khanna lived the life of stardom with glory. A spacious 603 sq m bungalow in Mumbai popularly known as Aashirwad left behind by the yesteryears actors was recently purchased for rs90 crore by Shashi Kiran Shetty, Executive Chairman of Allcargo Logistics, reports Nauzer Bharucha of The Times of India.

Many felt that the price of such widely acclaimed home to first superstar of bollywood is a poor match as compared to the reputation of the bungalow. The lower price tag for this bungalow was reportedly due to its small size along with the waving news of the bungalow being haunted.

Situated on Carter Road, Mumbai,  the bungalow still stands the attraction for tourists and mostly for the fans of the superstar where Rajesh Khanna spent his last days in. The bungalow is a sea-facing property.

Aashirwad, whose sole heiresses were his daughters Twinkle and Rinke had plans of renovating the bungalow into a museum which memories of their father Rajesh Khanna.

His live-in partner Anita Advani too claimed her share in Khanna’s property; and Advani said, "The property is still under litigation and I will be challenging the public notice that has been published in the newspaper today. I have asked for a stake in the property and the case is pending in court. A broker clued in about the deal said” –Reports midday.com

While Shetty chose to keep mum about this, Maneksha and Sethna, his solicitor firm too refrained themselves from naming the buyer. The deal is to be confirmed once the mandatory 14-day notice is over.

As per the media reports, the probable buyer was looking for a house in the city within the range of rs100 crore, while finally grabbing ‘Aashirwaad’.

The bungalow is under the strict coastal regulation zone, and will have a limited floor space index if the future buyer intends to renovate or redevelop it further.
