BANGALORE: In past three years, Bangalore has witnessed new housing complexes across the city; of which 525 are already constructed. According to Ramanath Rai, Minister of forest, environment and ecology, available details shown that builders have taken environment NOC from State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) for 564 projects in the city, reported Deccan Herald.

The rules and regulation of Environment Impact Assessment notification 2006 said that if the project of housing complex is more than 20,000 sq meters, it must take NOC. Ramanath Rai also told that 525 complexes are in Bangalore, 11 are in rural Bangalore, four are in Mysore and 19 are in Dakshina Kannada district. Complete details of housing complexes that don’t have NOC from SEIAA are not available with the government as Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has the charge of those housing complexes.

There are 13 complexes in Bangalore, that are not according to the Water Act of 1974 and cases are filed against them. Out of these 13 complexes, 10 belong to Shobha developers, 2 belongs to Daya MK and one has been constructed by Engineers Syndicate.

Syndicate Engineers property is situated in Nelamangala. Shobha Developers are facing charges against the Water Act of 1974; Daya MK properties that are situated in Kammanahalli village are facing criminal charges. On top of that 1,874 licenses have already been issued by Karnataka Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) for building housing complexes in Karnataka.
