Eagerly awaited DDA Housing Scheme postponed indefinitely

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) after facing last minute hiccups on Sunday has postponed its much awaited computerized draw of lots for its flagship Housing Scheme 2014, which was announced to be held on November 17 Monday at 11.30 am.

For the applicants of Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) housing scheme 2014, the news is not so good. The verdict comes in the wake of technical problem encountered by the housing body while holding the mock trial for the scheme at its headquarters 'Vikas Sadan' in the National Capital and no new date has been declared.The biggest DDA housing scheme offers 25,034 flats which include EWS, LIG, HIG, MIG, one room apartments and Janta flats.  The major part 22,627 are 1 BHK apartments and DDA has received 10,08, 700 applications.

DDA officials have failed to perform full-fledged trials for the draw, well placed sources said. Earlier the draw to check its preparedness was to be held on Nov 5, which was postponed again to 10 and then 12.A mock trial of the DDA’s housing scheme was held on Sunday at Vikas Sadan in the presence Honorable judges and senior officials of the DDA. After the trial senior officials observed that, It attributed longer time than expected because of the large number of applicants, various categories of flats and locations and multiple reservations such as SC, ST, PH, Ex-service man and war window.

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has been roped with DDA to perform draw of lots, which had performed the last DDA’s housing draw in 2010.Speaking to the reporters, the Vice chairman Balvinder Kumar avowed that the delay was due to technical reasons, the entire draw process was taking almost 6-7 hours during its testing and the housing authority was planning to bring down the time period; the draw date will be announced soon.  

The civic agency said that “The practice is taking enormously long time as it needs more time for optimization of data and process”. “Some technical connoisseur have been called to verify the process and to give their opinions to ensure there are no technical problems during the final draw” one of the spokesperson added.

The DDA Housing Scheme 2014 offers flats ranging from Rs 7 Lakh to Rs 1.2 crore.The DDA said in a press release “we decided to give a huge amount of time to the technical team, which has been working on the draw for past 72 hours continuously, thus the draw has been postponed”.

DDA’s Director V S Tomar said “Instead of webcasting through a YouTube Channel we have dedicated a website (www.ddadrawlive.in), for the draw, later we decided to create a separate window for the event in general, where online user can see the actions live”.
