World’s tallest building got inspiration from a desert flower!

The desert flower ‘Hymenocallis’ is the real inspiration behind the architectural design of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, world’s tallest building.  Besides, Hymenocallis is a flower with long petals that stretch from its center and mainly found in subtropical and tropical places in the world. According to Adrian Smith, the design architect, mainly the building’s triple lobed footprint adopted the design pattern of the flower, Hymenocallis. The concept of Burj Khalifa has been compared with flower petals from a stem as the wing of the tower stretched from the central core, says Smith.

The construction of Burj Khalifa took 22 million man-hours!

South Korean Company, Samsung Engineering & Construction constructed the iconic structure of Burj Khalifa. The same company has worked on the Petronas Twin Towers, the twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Taipei 101, a tallest skyscraper in Taiwan.

To construct the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, over 110,000 tons of concrete were required along with 55,000 tons of steel reber and took 22 million man-hours to complete the construction of the tallest building in the world.
