Alliance with Cisco pushes the realty in Electronics city

Bangalore : The Karnataka government in alliance with Global networking Giant Cisco and Electronic City Industries Association (ELCIA) had set up to roll out the Electronic city - Industrial Township in Southeast Bangalore into smart city and develop Asia’s first end to end Internet of Things (IoT) innovation hub as a part of smart city project.

Pertaining to the convention on Infrastructure and Technology opportunities of smart city on Tuesday; the Minister of Infrastructure Roshan Baig had proclaimed that “The first phase of the smart city pilot project will be rolled out in electronic city by January 2015 and the project will be done by the end of June 2015. From coming January, the buzz word in electronic city will be smart. To oversee infrastructures in living lab of electronic city companies like CCTV surveillance, smart parking, smart water management, community information, leak detection and Smart Street lighting there will be technology assisted intelligent system.”

In India, Electronic city is one of the largest industrial townships, housing major IT companies like Wipro & Infosys where roughly 125,000 hardware and software professionals are employed in this place which accounts 25 percent of the country’s exports.  

 “The intended first phase of pilot project will serve a replicable model for the rest of Bangalore and other emerging markets in India. ELCIA under PPP model which chosen for the pilot project was only the brown field ESDM (Electronic System Design and Manufacturing) cluster in the country to obtain endorsement for a financial funding from the central government to instigate innovation in designing and manufacturing and it likewise serves to develop the effective eco system”, minister added.
