Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
My Father is an Ex Army Personnel and Mother is a House Wife. My Wife Priyanka is a teacher at a reknowned School in Kolkata
In your working career so for, please share with us what have been top 2 or 3 accomplishments/work experience/your contributions to this field.
An organisation which is people freindly and gives you an ample scope to learn and innovate. All the Seniors and Subordinates work together as if they are a part of one family, this makes my current organisation one of the best places to work. One big achievement in career has been that I was the Chairperson and speaker at Asia Pacific Bancassurance and Alternative channels distribution conference held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Differences
Selling is taking an idea, planting the idea in your customers minds and making them feel they thought of it..but do it ethically.
Marketing gives birth and shape to that idea and also provides support through information, recognition and promotions.
Achieving Targets
By providing them with the right enablers and also creating Marketing programmes which would help not only in brand recall but also in lead generation and Sales team development.
Growth
Marketing as a function is considered to be an evergreen area, growth for a marketing person can be tremendous in my kind of an organisation. Have seen myself growing not only professionaly but personaly too by learning from people within the organisation.

Currently I am managing the P& L for East Zone with a focus on B2B and B2C Sales both for the ICT business in schools and educational institutions.

Obviously the first choice is Management qualification with Marketing specialisation. Also MDP's and Exectuive programmes organised by the top Management Institutes should be helpful for a person to learn and grow within the organisation.
Growth Prospect in marketing
A Marketing person's growth in a company is much faster then that of other functions/streams because the Marketing team works as a catalyst for the development of the business as a whole. The chance of success for a person would be twice then that of any other stream in an organisation
Competitiveness
We do Marketing in all functions. In my view Marketing is everything, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Operations, production, IT etc. in all these functions Marketing prevails, So in my view marketing is not different but is present in all the functions
Importance of STP
Segmentation and Targeting help in classifying customers, targeting the right segment and postioning helps in creating a distinct and desirable place for the product, all these three are very important as they create a base for business development and Sales in future
Motivating
Normaly I tell them about my own experience and also share the experience of some Seniors wherein they also felt the same situation and how they come out of this. Also by understanding there problems and helping them with some development sessions if need be

No Limits as the Marketing fuction is pervasive, its present everywhere...But yes it is also important for the Marketing person to safeguard the values and to keep a track the Mission & vision of the organisation, they should not try to go beyond the same.
