Important Career Decision
I started my MBBS in the year 2006, and apart from being a doctor, I have 12 independent skills which supports me more than my real profession. One of the important decisions that I made was learning multiple skills of various careers and integrating with the one that supports my principal dream. Though it looks very weird, this is in fact what Steve Jobs told about Connecting the dots. Today I am applying all the skills in being a Doctor and health care personnel. Every year I made it a point to work in various new domains and gain knowledge, create contacts and strengthen myself psychologically.
Working on a differnt profession
Honestly I am yet to start my practise as a Doctor. But the knowledge that i gained for the past 6 years by working in all possible places is beyond what text books can teach. One good thing is that I started as an intern and social worker in a number of NGOs, today I have been nominated to the Board of directors in an NGO. And I work as a film maker, writer, entrepreneur, research assistant, French professor and as a doctor.
Upcoming Trends
As a Doctor, I can advise any one to expect great things happen in the field of Health care . India, particularly South India will be the hot spot for Medical tourism and Health based projects for the next 10 years. Anyone who is related to planning, strategy making, administration, policy making, etc will be having a breakthrough growth in the next few years.
My advice
I would suggest the following ; start early, chase your dreams, do an extensive market research, plan effectively, form a strong team, create lot of contacts, be optimistic, be outrageously and radically committed to your dreams, have a disciplined and determined imagination, be honest and above all do everything with all your might.
Area of specilization
Knowledge management will be one of the most sought after area in the BI domain in future.
