About Wayne Marr
Wayne Marr is a Full Professor of Business Administration at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the only doctoral granting institution in Alaska. He teaches Economics courses and other business courses. Wayne began this career as an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech in the early 1980s.He also served as a Senior Economist at the SEC working on both microeconomic and macroeconomic issues living 2 years in DC and then consulting with the SEC over the next decade. In the late 1980s, Wayne moved to Tulane University when he taught Money & Banking dealing again with macroeconomic and microeconomic issues. After a stay at Tulane, Wayne accept the position of the First Union Professor of Banking at Clemson University where his focus was on banks and their interaction with the financial markets. Wayne has published more than 40 academic articles and a large number of trade publications in the areas of money and banking, regulation, and economics. Wayne spent the next decade in the private IT sector founding SRRN (www.ssrn.com) with Michael Jensen, Eugene Fama and other internationally known economists. Today, Wayne is studying and writing on the TARP and more specifically on the new Lending Facilities such as TALF and CPLF which the Federal Reserve created to open up the financial markets via quantiative easing. Additionally, Wayne has a blog in Financial Economics (www.alaskakid.wordpress.com) that focuses primarily on the economic crisis facing the US and world.
