Brief description about me

I am Vastupal Vashisth. I have completed my Bachelor of Technology (honors) in Mechanical Engineering with aggregate of 73% in MAY 2011.

Presently I am working in, CAPARO ENGINEERING INDIA Ltd., a CAPARO GROUP COMPANY (UK) as a Mechanical Engineer in Press shop Production / Planning.

It is one of the CAPARO GROUP COMPANY ISO-TS: 16949, an ISO 14001 certified, offers end-to-end solutions in designing, developing and manufacturing automotive systems, assemblies, advanced composites, modules and components to Indian Automotive OEMs and Engineering Industry. CAPARO leverages its exhaustive capabilities in metal Stamping and Welded assembly parts to service top-notch clients such as Eicher, Force, GM, Volvo, Tata Motors, John Deere. CAPARO India currently employs 5000 direct and indirect employees across 25 world-class functional and upcoming facilities and group is established in seven different countries.

Area of operation / Work responsibilities:

*    Material Planning, monitoring & control.
*    Ensure achieving rejection & rework PPM.
*    Optimize press utilization and Manpower Planning & allocation.
*    Ensure compliance and monitoring of production plan during shift.
*    At end of the shift prepare daily production report and die performance report.
*    Calculate the monthly capacity based on goals & targets. Receive daily production plan one day firm and second day tentative plan.
*    As per production plan & priority, receive raw material from store and in case of shortage discuss the concern in morning meeting.
*    Ensuring quality production as per the production plan and adherence to the relevant control plan, procedures and work instructions.
*    Ensure 5 ‘S’ & safety at workplace by providing adequate protective equipments to all employees at shop floor and ensure safeguarding of all machines.
*    Improvement in existing tooling to improve production rate, maintain quality parameters & material saving.
*    Ensure effective coordination of allocated 4M resources to achieve the business plan objectives on the shop floor and implementation of problem solving techniques.
*    Analysis and identify non conformances for corrective action to ensure schedule achievement and adherence to quality standards.

I am working in the same company since August 2011 till date. I lead a group of 36 people during a shift. Normally there is a meeting of all 36 people in staring of shift and in tat meeting I guide them how to work and give instructions regarding their safety and productivity. Normally in each shift (A, B, C) there is a group of 36 people. During shift time I ensure the planning and control by coordinating with engineer of other shift. We plan each and everything and change our shifts weekly. We work on different projects to increase productivity, efficiency and cost saving.

Challenges in job

The real challenge I have found in the job is to adjust myself according to environment of company and to do work in different shifts and to meet expectations of my seniors. There is a group of people of different nature belong to different corner of country of different religions having different sense of humor with their own capabilities. To lead the group of such type people whom I never met in my life before and ensure that they will work according to my instructions from the day one itself and to know the role of everyone who is working under my instructions and to involve myself in that environment for better results so that I can give maximum benefit to the company as well as myself was my real challenge.

I think it will help me out in my future life to adjust myself in any situation. I have learnt how to take decision in worst situation and how to control the people and how to present yourself in front of others to prove yourself because people want results in the company and you have to prepare yourself for any kind of situation. It changed my scenario towards people. I have learnt how to lead a group of people and how to manage that group and how to work with your collages which is totally different that I have learnt during my graduation time.

Job made easy

I have found that here people having learning attitude and they help their juniors to learn and to improve themselves. I got support from my seniors to improve myself and from my juniors also. They helped me to grow myself because they believe that if everyone grows himself/herself then company will grow automatically. They provide training to their employees in regular interval of time for better working environment and improvement in them.

Upcoming Trends

From my point of view I can say that there should be more automation and more intelligence used to s.ort out different problems occurred during design and product development

My view on India technical development

We as a country are doing something wrong and something right. The main point is this we don’t think much more and we are dependent on others and day by day we are seeing that other countries are investing much more money in India in every field and it has no doubt that India has a such type f market that will consume each and everything but the question is that are Indian able to do something extraordinary in the world. Although we have technical talent but not so much and if we then we are no utilizing that talent in right direction. We are seeing that today also India has ordered aircrafts for Indian Air force from other countries, why are we not developing? We don’t have a single technical product that is dominating the world because we don’t focus on new things and don’t do any research, only copying the others and doing the same thing again and again. But the great thing is that the countries see India as a center for their growth and if they are doing something in India then Indian are the only one who rules that one, they run it with their talent.
But in end I want to say that Indian should do something extraordinary that can change the scenario of the whole word and that should help people to live better in future.

My goal

In next five years I want to do my post graduation and doctorate from abroad and want to do some research that can help others and can change scenario of the world and want to do job in a good organization.

Advice to students

Normally I will say that this is the time that you can make your future or spoil your future. If you have decided something then do it now in present because after sometime you will have no time to do anything. Study very hard and gain knowledge of the subject so that you can do something in your future life. After your graduation do your post graduation or doctorate from abroad or from India itself but from a good college where you can get all things related to your research or any subject. Decide goals what you want you want to do and when you want to do and then do it. Prepare yourself for placements in college campus and for govt. jobs or any further plans in your future. Be ready for any type of situation in the future.
