The Journey : Early Days to How I Got Here
I started my career with C/C++ developers after doing post-graduation in
Computer Science in 1995. With the boom in internet technologies, I
then got into Java development in 1997. I went to US to work on a
voiceXML product in 2000. With the down turn of IT industry in 2001, I
decided to come back to India and sell the same product to Indian
companies like Idea Cellular, Jet Airways, and Sahara Airways etc. and
got into more diversified role as an offshore delivery manager, pre -
sales engineer, QA engineer.

I had to do most of the roles as I
took the responsibility to grow the ODC and also sustain it by selling
the product. I think that was fantastic experience. Later I worked for
Deloitte consulting and Tech Mahindra as automation engineer in EAI
domain. I then joined Persistent Systems to work as Sr. Member of
Technical Staff, Associate Technical Manager, Technical Manager, Sr.
Project Manager and Account Manager. I explored multiple domains and
technologies while working with Persistent.

I joined e-Zest in
May 2011 as VP-cloud computing practice. I already crossed first
milestone at e-Zest by partnering with leaders in cloud computing like
VMWare, Microsoft, Cisco, and HP. My team is currently working on
developing an IP to track and manage application level SLAs for apps in
cloud which I think would be a great innovation from e-Zest.
Decisions That Mattered
First and foremost I came back to India during downturn in IT
industry in 2001. It gave me a different platform to perform. I started
working as an Entrepreneur within an organization. I never said "No" to
any given opportunity and converted into a viable business idea for my
companies.
The Turning Points
Most important inflection point is coming back to India from US in 2001
changed my overall perspective. I no longer was a pure developer but an
all-rounder and a very good performer in the IT industry.
Work and Role: Then and now
I am independent! I can take decisions more quickly due to my role. I can sell faster.
Two Years Down the Line
I want to take e-Zest to such a point where industry would
acknowledge its presence in the cloud computing space. I want to build
world class IPs and patented designs for e-Zest in next 2 years.
Trends to Watch Out For
APM is bound to grow due to increased importance of EUE (End User
Experience). We are already working in this space to develop our own IP.
My Advice If You are Starting Out
My advice for someone who would like to start of today in the same
domain as I am in: Get in-depth knowledge of central nervous system
(CNS) of cloud. I mean C=Compute, N=Network and S=Storage.
Must Focus Areas For the Future
Protocol based interoperability of apps irrespective of clouds.
Do We Need Certifications?
Go for vendor certifications. It creates a positive impact on employers and customers.
Books/ Websites I Recommend
Not a single source is sufficient. You have to keep your eyes/ears wide open. Attend ample number of seminars and events.
