Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
Born and brought up in small city of Jharkhand - Dhanbad.Currently residing in Bangalore with wife Mousumi Adhikary. Father employed with Tata Steel and mother House Wife.
Degrees that Matter
QA/Tester has to do certain domain level certifications to grow in career aspect based on their domain interest.
Minimum qualification required for any candidate for QA/Tester career is a Graduate Degree from a recognized university.
A Fine Balance:
As great saying goes "The best way to escape from a problem is to solve it".
I always prioritize my daily task ,allocate and spend specific hours to finish it - I always need to understand the problem - the solution always resides nearby - so things gets managed accordingly.

Documenting the requirements - Business Process Flow, Functional Specifications Documentation (FSD) - doing the QA for the same.

I started my career as a developer - due to certain delay in getting new development project I was sitting idle - suddenly my manager asked to start with QA,Testing and BA role .It was an inflection point in my career, in terms of moving from a back developer role to a client facing.

Six Sigma related information is always helpful for QA and domain related Testing sites are good for Testers.Many information are available in internet.
Most Important Decisions
I analyzed exactly what organization needs every-time and the demand of it may never comedown - all I could see that the passion of QA/Tester/BA are always evergreen requirement - I thought of to continue my career in that and passionate about that career.
The Journey So Far
Started my career as a Developer in B2B arena(Healthcare Domain), then Support,QA and finally into BA. In all I learned the Domain knowledge - as we grow technology may change but Domain expertise may never.
I finished my MS from BITS Pilani and MBA from Symbiosis simultaneously.
Essential Advice
I would like to say - first learn the roles and responsibilities, learn from others the certifications related to the domain and make a goal to achieve that.
Don't get frustrated in the initial assignment itself as you may land up somewhere else.
Learn slowly and take responsibility to grow further.
Most Important Lessons
In any Assignment - Don't get over excited, Have patience and try to grab the opportunity of learning something new.
Plan your future goal and see what you can do your best to achieve that - everybody may not become a tester or a QA or a BA or developer.
Your learning will be your lifetime asset.
Current and Previous Responsibilities
Initially I used to do only QA and to some extent manual testing - though now I do complete customer requirement gathering - preparing usecases - ensure Signoff of SOU and SOW.
Ensure preparation and sign-off from Client of URS and SRS.
Changes in the industry
A QA person needs to plan and set priorities. There is a definable project to test. Given all the possible combinations of expected uses, as well as all the potential unexpected scenarios including human and mechanical failure, one can imagine an infinite number of possibilities.
