Top 3 Things Companies should Know about our Students
DSC offers an Integrated Marketing Communications programme – combining the core marketing and management areas with communication specializations. The programme therefore to start is one step above any mass communication course and offers more options than any MBA.
Students at DSC are trained through (Apprenticeships & Internships) for nearly 6 months which helps to integrat theory with practice and make the programme relevant and impactful for industry (training required is much lesser).
DSC students have learnt to manage time and stress since they study 8:30 am - 1:30 and work from 2;30–7:00 pm during Apprenticeships. They learn to do a fine balancing act and become more responsible citizens gaining enormous self- confidence in the end, since the programme covers innumerable presentations, games and workshops. Each semester see’s them evolving and more involved in the essence of holistic learning by ‘use’ of concepts learnt. We are passionate and driven by quality and excellence.
Things to maintain Quality of Education
Regular upgradation of programme structure to delete/ or include industry relevant courses – to stay abreast of their requirements. The programme is also comparable to global mass media programmes Each subject has internal evaluation of 30-40%. Timelines on assignment and work are stringently adhered. Recently we have added subjects such as Digital Marketing and Rural Communication to our programme which is highly relevant in todays changing socio-economic landscape.
DSC is one of the few institutes which has kept its total intake highly controlled (not more than 35-40 in a class) so as to ensure continuous and consistent guidance, one on one to the student executive body which also adheres to quality output.
Constructive use of a students time and channelizing their high creative energy into intelligent output involves plenty of workshops and presentations throughout the programmeeven in subjects such as finance.
Leadership and Moral Qualities of students
All presentations/assignments at DSC are group assignments, allowing students to build strong inter-personal skills alongwith trying to extract other students best performance thus building leadership qualities. Strong-intense group dynamics during each semester help build leaders.
We are an ethical institute and are respected for this enormously even by our industry collegues. From starting the day with a small prayer, we choose to call ourselves a ‘school’ over a ‘college’, and we instill the same in our students on a daily basis.
Family Background
My family has a rich cultural and academic background. My father was a Senior Diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service and my siblings are entrepreneurs. Many of my nephews and nieces have taken up teaching as a career in India and abroad. My daughter graduated from St.Stephen’s College where she studied History and thereafter completed a Masters in Marketing Communication from University of Westmisnter, UK. She is now actively involved in Marketing and Management of the institute.
Future students & Hiring Companies
The DSC programme integrates non-management/ non-mass communication subjects such as sociology, zoology, physiology in media management and mass communication e.g.selling personal hygiene products to low income category or unique products to a premium target audience. This requires a clear understanding of target audience each case. It is therefore no wonder that our students are leading not only in Advertising and Public Relations but also become Brand Managers, Vice-Presidents and Marketing Communication specialists.
We understand that ‘each group of students’ joining each year is “a team” and each team is unique in its strength and knowledge base.
Internships and Apprenticeships are regularly monitored by the institute. All placements for the same are also done by the institute./ Regular monitoring by office team during internships.
All Internships are evaluated in the overall working system, its important for them to learn the systems that govern the programme in its entirety. Each student at DSC has to complete a thesis, original contribution to industry through primary research as a compulsory part.
