Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
My father was an employee in State Run Insurance company and from him I learnt what is decision making. Being a management graduate myself, I always looked forward for a profession which gave enough opportunities to make decisions. Luckily got through tough selection and joined the same Insurance co
Career Profile:
Currently I am a management consultant. I try finding solutions to the business problems of my clients using my technical, professional skills.Only difference is earlier I used to get paid monthly as salary, now get paid on assignment basis by way of fees
Advice For New Professionals:
No shortcut to success, more so in knowledge based industries.Start at operational level and make your way through the hierarchy. While treading the path, amass lot of knowledge and skills. Compensation follows automatically because of TINA factor.
Working Life Management:
I believe in the natural way. If I take care of my employer's or client's priorities then I will have enough space for my personal life in between. However there is no more 9 to 5 office life and there will never be one. I need to budget my minimum time for personal life, rest all is for profession.
Done Differently:
Looking back, I find, many a struggle on my way.Learnt the lessions the harder way.Since I now know, there is no starting from begining again in this life, I try sharing the knowledge with the youngsters who are interested in the domain, the nuances, so that their progress becomes easy.
The Decisions That Matter
well, it has always been decision making. Though a finance specialist by qualification, chose Insurance (a domain nearer to my heart), joined public sector and learned a hell lot which otherwise would not have been possible,Tried and trying to share the same with the world at large in pvt sector.
The Journey So Far:
Entry into public sector major at operating level, moved up ladder out of sheer knowledge and merit. When hit roof top, joined pvt sector, headed a risk managing function, set up processes, developed lower rung, built capacity management units, got global exposure, travelled abroad, now into consulting.
Job Profile:
Being a Management consultant, I provide solutions to business challanges to my clients, through domain and IT options. Like to help in capacity building and process improvement projects. Manage projects integrating global processes into local platforms within the permissible framework.
Other Thoughts:
My personal view is domain specialists who have extensive IT skills, can help the current business scenario with recessionary trends.Competence and delivery are going to help professionals in their career growth.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
As part of the career, learnt domain, inquisitive and customer centric approach found many solutions to the common problems, realised IT is a best support in delivery of such solutions.Have wide fraternity who is in touch with me,who always want to know something new, which makes me keep learning too
Role Model:
My school teacher put me into reading habit. My seniors in public sector taught me lot of technicalities inspite of conservative approach. My CEO bosses in pvt sector gave me enough challanges to implement my decisions. So it is a role model at each stage which created my current personality.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
It has become lot challanging. Hightened competitiveness comein.India has seen what is good for it, by welcoming external knowledge. There is a sad phase too. Research has taken backseat. Knowledge sharing is becoming conservative.
Growth Strategy:
I keep updating myself on a daily basis on what is happening in my domain, around the world.Learn new technologies that can help me to find better solutions.Keep open mind with fellow professionals and listen more than talk, which ensures my continued growth. At the same time, keep teaching and training
