Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
My father is retired central railway employee and mother is housewife. I am basically from Solapur district and completed my BE from Pandharpur i.e. town in same district. My only younger brother is working in SAP FICO field. My father is my idol for ethics at workplace.
Degrees that Matter
I didnt done any certification in software testing. Actually I didnt aware of detailed process also but because of business need of project while I jumped into PLM domain I needed to start QA from scratch for one of software product. While doing that I learnt a lot.
The Journey So Far
It was all about finding 'Field of Interest'. Started from trainee in production, then shifted to quality dept. While in product I learnt CATIA and started as faculty for the same then moved in design. Latest was tech support and now management in PLM domain. Tech support & management is my passion.
Most Important Decisions
Switchin from Manufacturing to CAD was key decision for me. Subsequently I came to know about PLM i.e. Teamcenter. While working as end user on Teamcenter I had taken deep dive in config, data model etc and that made me find my destiny i.e. current role. Field of Interest only can lead to growth.
Essential Advice
Trying to visualize who software works in backend with having very sound base of software/hardware basic concepts is the key. Google every unknown term/word you hear/read about testing and you will know what it is actually. Simply trying to test calculator can guide you a lot... strong observation!
Areas for the Future
Core quality of software is parameterized from functional specifications and interpreting it into test cases will be key. Cutting edge technologies already simplified process but for products like integrations which are connecting two different platforms, automating testing is still challenge.
Points of inflection
My career path is full of variety. I worked in manufacturing, faculty, CAD, marketing, Techinical support, QA and now handling management with decision making in Finance, Legal & admin altogehter officially. Also worked on logo designing, DTP, punchlines for companies for just interst with no income
Most Important Lessons
Key is finding out Field of interest and having vision of market for the same. Its really important to focus with professional maturity on what one is leading to when switching company/domain/profile. Getting proper details from experts about career opportunities selection really helps a lot.
Currently working at
Handling overall company management with respect to HR, Administration, Finance, Legal. Also involved in technical consultation to teams in my company & presales for Asia Pacific region.
Role Model
Just one sentence from Bill Gates i.e. '........., just leave my employees with me and I will build another Microsoft!' as from this I know the most valuable asset I do have is my employees working with me.
Current and Previous Responsibilities
My previous role was technical support engineer and now I am handling overall company management from different angles.
A Fine Balance:
Well... understanding is what can do magic in this case. Just giving full of my attention to my kid when I use to be at home. I dont really see how much time I spent at home but rather than that think on how I spent it. Giving full attention to family members when at home is important.
