Brief description about me
My Name is Kumar Pallav and I'm basically from Jamshedpur,
Jharkhand. I'm working with Capgemini Consulting right now and have been staying in Bangalore since 2005, after passing college.
I have a total work experience of 7 years into Storage Administration Domain. I've done my Engineering in Electronic from Nagpur University. I work in a team of 9 techies and am not managing any team as of now. We manage Data Centers worldwide and administer data Management to as optimum level as possible. Our role also includes infrastructure support for multiple major MNC's like EMC, HP, Wipro etc.

Challenges in job
As we are into infrastructure support and manage live servers and
data storage devices, our biggest challenge is to keep them at up and running state at all time, 24/7. Any Storage device or SAN Switch device which if fails and is holding a huge enterprise server on it, there could cause data loss which in turn can cause a lot of financial loss to that company. Getting a good hold on this technology and processes will help me in developing Data center designing skills. using it I can get into entrepreneurship.
Job made easy
No job is easy, experts make them look easy. With 7 years of
experience in this industry and working with multiple clients, I've
gained good understanding of the business complexities and customer demands which help me serve them well.

Upcoming Trends
Cloud data storage, is one in the making will make life very easier
for infrastructure designing when it comes to cost and space
requirement for devices. It has many advantages.  It’s cheap, doesn’t require installation, doesn’t need replacing, has backup and recovery systems, has no physical presence, requires no environmental conditions, requires no personnel and doesn’t require energy for power or cooling.
My point of view
No I won’t agree 100% to it. We do invent and discover things in India which go global but yes may be we lag in promoting our products. There have been many basic discoveries from India which later taken up by the West, worked a little more on them and marketed as their own. I may be sounding a little patriotic here. But yes, We as a country lag in ownership and entrepreneurship courage but not in talent. Our major population is from middle class who aim at getting a job and get settled as soon possible. Nor do we have, neither do we plan to invest in inventions and research. Even Indian companies are happy developing products made outside India and most of the jobs are now of outsourced category.
My goals
My goal and ambition is to build and manage a team of my own and designing world class infrastructure for companies using the best technology and be most cost efficient. I'm into the planning process and will soon be submitting a paper on this within my organization.
Family background
My family includes my parents, two younger brothers and my wife. My Father (Mr. S.K Sinha) is working as a Senior Manager in Tata Motors, Jamshedpur and my mother (Mrs. Kalpana Sinha) is a house wife. My father has also done Engineering in Mechanical from NIT Jamshedpur. My mother has done economics honors from Patna and after marriage, she's been very effectively managing all of us in all aspects her intelligence and home making skills.
My younger brother (Kumar Parimal) has done his engineering from Tamil Nadu and is working with JP Morgan. My youngest brother (Kumar Pushkar) is pursuing is engineering final year from Orissa. My wife (Kriti Verma) has done her MBA from BIT Mesra and is working as an Administrative officer in New India Assurance Company Ltd.

Advice to professionals
If someone wants to make or is making is career in Storage, I would first congratulate him for his choice of field  :)  My advice will be to remain focused and apart from daily job, do follow forums on the internet as this is a vast domain with ever changing technologies. You would never know when the present technique you learning dies and a new one comes in. Also we do not have many engineers in storage domain available in market as it's not very common and training is too not available anywhere, so if you get into it and learn the subject well, you'll be in great demand anytime.

Advice to students
My advice to College students would be keep their eyes and ears open always. College syllabus and curriculum may not be enough at this present time where there's a lot happening outside and lot many new technologies have come in which I never knew till I was in college, specially STORAGE as a domain in which I am working. To do well and get recognized after college, you will need to be well versed with the technologies and kinds of profiles outside, try find out the trend in which technology moving, what companies outside expecting from them and then prepare accordingly.
