The Journey : Early Days to How I Got Here

Started out as a lateral entrant in Infosys - as a Sr Software Engineer. Over a period of time realized my inclination was more towards technical roles rather than managerial, hence opted towards such assignments. And now for the past few years, deal exclusively with Architectural work.

Currently leading the Mobility team at Zensar.

The Turning Points

Moving to Technical stream from the well beaten managerial stream.

Getting into emerging and thus risky areas like Mobile development early on.

Work and Role: Then and Now

Currently engaged in Mobility Solutions Delivery as well as capability development. This is necessary as mobility is still a niche area and the traditional delivery models cannot be applied in this field.

Changing Days: Lessons Learnt

Today, there are myriad technologies in the market and one has to constantly and consciously put in an effort to keep up-to-date. Obviously, not all technologies are for everybody. Picking and choosing wisely is also part of the learning process.
Especially in the emerging technology areas, the market is changing rapidly. If you do not stay abreast of these changes, you will be pushed to the wayside.

Trends to Watch Out For

In the mobility space, ready solutions are hitting the spot with customers a lot faster than custom built solutions. In the overall market and especially in this area, time to market is critical. Any thing that helps the customer reduce the time to market and launch a new idea before their competition is obviously a winner. To this end, one has to remain informed of current trends, follow thought leaders to gauge the future changes and innovate to capitalize on these changes.

My Advice If You are Starting Out

Be open to learning.
Try and come up with innovative ideas. In the long run, this would be a differentiator.

Must Focus Areas For the Future

MEAP - Mobile Enterprise Application Platforms - These allow you to quickly build a mobile solution via a standard desktop platform and usually have a single code base that can be compiled for different mobile platforms.
MDM solutions - Mobile Device Management.
