Education and teaching background
I did my early education from Bharatpur and then MA in English Literature from the University of Rajasthan. Ironically I never wanted to enter the teaching profession. My father was a school teacher and has been a source of inspiration for me in all my endeavors. His occupation though was never an option for me as I had seen him struggle to bring up the family on a meagre income of a teacher. Life, however had some other plans for me and I ended up as an English teacher in Maheshwari Senior Secondary School, Jaipur. Once I got into teaching, I realized, it is here that my heart lies. The B.Ed. then followed, and I subsequently was handed over the charge of the senior secondary section in the school, and in 1977, when the Maheshwari Group, decided to take their first step in English medium education, I was chosen to become the first Principal of the Maheshwari Public School, the second CBSE affiliated English Medium School of the city. I was all of just 29 then, probably the youngest Principal in the city!
The year 1988 turned to be one of the best ones in my life, I was conferred the prestigious National Award for Teachers by the President of India, and also the State Award for Teachers by the Governor of Rajasthan. The very same year, I got the final push from one of my detractors, to take the first step towards achieving my dream of setting up an educational institute of international standards. Things started falling in place thereafter, as they say, once you take a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.
The India International School was founded in January 1990. With applications for admissions up to the fifth standard, reaching a whopping 665 students in the very first year, the IIS had already arrived. There has been no looking back since then. The IIS Institutional Network now is a group of seven successful institutes, each having carved a niche for itself in its own field, imparting education in the multifarious fields of Engineering, Technology, Management, Education, Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities. The International School of Informatics and Management, is a natural outcome of my idea of developing the youth as responsible intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs with the will & skill to build organizations that are self-reliant and self-sustaining and thus contribute their bit towards building India as a sustainable economy. The International College for Girls, set up in 1995, has had a momentous growth story, from being one of the first English medium girls’ college in Jaipur, to being, an ‘autonomous’ college, a ‘model’ college, a ‘college with potential for excellence’ to finally graduate as a ‘deemed-to-be-a university’, The IIS University. The IIS University is a culmination of the efforts of my team over the last two decades. It is among the thirty eight deemed-to-be-a university in India placed under the category ‘One’ by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The journey so far has been quite fulfilling, and the best part is, I get an opportunity every now and then to walk into a classroom and follow my passion of teaching.
I believe, the best teachers are lifelong learners, and hence I try to keep learning every day, be it from my colleagues, my students, anyone who I come across during the course of the day. I did my Ph.D. while my institutions were taking shape, and also gave a formal form to my interest in linguistics by learning foreign languages.
I have always held that teaching is not just a profession, but a mission. A teacher’s job is the job with highest responsibility. Not only does a teacher, teach, but also shapes a student’s life by inculcating dreams and aims.
Top 3 Things Companies should Know about our Students
Our student centric pedagogy in teaching and learning process and impetus on holistic development has helped the learners discover a wealth of opportunities in a supportive environment based on empowerment, sense of purpose, compassionate judgment, with commitment to learning and positive values. Optimum results among students are credited to innovative pedagogy, qualified and experienced faculty, extensive research, industry-institute partnerships and industry mentors.
Our students have brought laurels to their alma-mater by continuously securing merit positions in Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, MBA and MCA examinations.
Experiential learning at the institutional level ensured through industrial visits, field trips, case-study discussion, projects, interaction with eminent personalities from industry has prepared our students as effectual brand ambassadors. Our testaments are our alumni who are serving in organizations of repute in diverse sectors. The positive feedback and regular campus drives by our past recruiters testify our student’s commitment to excellence, productivity and affirmative outcomes.
Our students are tech-savvy and well-versed with latest trends and happenings in the business world. State of the art facilities like an FM Community Radio Station on campus, Wi-Fi connectivity, up link with Edusat India’s exclusive Satellite for education, e-classrooms and audio-visual equipment have enhanced their competitive edge.
I comprehend that strategically designed and efficiently implemented sustainable practices in governance & leadership, research, consultancy, teaching, learning and evaluation have assisted our stakeholders in achieving academic, extra-curricular and placement excellence. My vision of empowerment through quality education appears to be accomplished when today I meet my passed out students and find some of them excelling as proficient managers, flourishing entrepreneurs, dexterous technocrats and competent consultants.
Instill leadership and moral qualities
“Performers follow convention. High Performers break from it.” – I strive to encourage our students to turn possible into tangible, question conventional ideas, convey strategic insight, superior content and deliverance skills in all the tasks they set to accomplish
I have chalked out multi-fold Agenda for our institute encompassing contribution to National development, fostering global competencies among future managers and technocrats, inculcating values and sense of social responsibility, enriching students with emotional and intellectual intelligence and focusing on entrepreneurial orientation among students .My priority is shaping wholesome personalities who are not only employable but are super-achievers capable of carving out a niche for themselves in the dynamic corporate world.
In alignment with the agenda we have a National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell which undertakes community activities like, blood donation camps, adoption of slums, polio vaccination camps, adult literacy drives and other environment friendly initiatives. We also have The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) Cell which facilitates conceiving and nurturing of viable Business plans with an aim to assist our students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Sole focus on academics may not produce desired results, I champion thought and action leadership so student clubs form an essential part of IIIM business learning experience. Speaker series, presentations and special meetings are typical activities organized by these clubs wherein, students actively envisage, organize and participate to hone their leadership and interpersonal skills. We also organize Annual Management Fest-Mosaic, Annual IT Fest-Montage and Annual B-Quizzing competition which are designed, managed and hosted by IIIMites thus, providing the students a platform to harness their managerial skills.
I expect our students to excel in their field of endeavour so it is essential that they are trained on certain finer aspects of soft skills for which the institute provides inputs through workshops, training programmes, guest lectures, group discussions, mock interview sessions with feedbacks and live projects. We also publish our own International Journal of Management & IT-“Oorja” where we inspire our students to contribute innovative and breakthrough ideas.
Family background

My family has been my greatest strength through this process, and a microcosm of this has been my wife who is, and always has been, my biggest inspiration. She is patient, sharp, a source of joy & happiness, and a great support in the highs and lows of life.
My parents had been a great source of encouragement. I received professional inspirations and wisdom from my affectionate father, himself a state awardee for teaching, the first one at that, who taught me that every venture should always be backed by a social motive and my mother who instilled in me the values of compassion and commitment. I cannot thank them enough for fostering in me a high value system all along my upbringing. Losing them both has created a big void in my life. In the end only the teachings and memories remain.
I have two loving sons who are my best friends. After having completed their school education from Jaipur, the elder Amit went on to pursue higher education in the US, the younger one Sumit pursued his studies in India only. They gained the independence they needed to be successful and the confidence to take risks early on in life as me and my wife gave them the freedom to follow their interests. They are into manufacture and export of stone products and are successfully running two firms, TAB India with headquarters in Jaipur, and Amsum & Ash, the US flagship location in Minneapolis, which have now spread on to France, Italy, and Bangalore, India. As a proud father I can say, Amit and Sumit are self-made men and a force to reckon with in their field.
Future students and hiring companies

Ours is a student-driven institution. The focus is on strengthening analytical rigor, business communication and experiential leadership through continuous learning.
Established in 1995 the institute has now passed many a milestones and earned accolades for itself. It is one of the most preferred management institutions in Rajasthan. The high merit of the selected students through CMAT, the qualifying examination, speaks of volumes the class of students admitted to our management programme.
As I look back, it gives me immense pride and pleasure to see the success of our alumni who are doing very well indeed, and contributing to the cause of society and humanity.
In India students generally regard B-School education as a continuation of undergraduate or college education. This defeats the very purpose of management education. We welcome students who are analytically strong, have a positive attitude towards learning and have a larger purpose in life, to our campus.
At IIIM we continuously reinvent education and that way stay relevant to our stakeholders. Through continuous innovation in experiential learning we have co-created a strong culture of research and thereby we are able to give to the company a set of bright sensitive, intelligent and ethical leaders. The institute promotes need based and systematic research through its Research & Consultancy cell while the MDP’s and the consultancy assignments undertaken on a regular basis lay foundation for a comprehensive and symbiotic relationship with business and Industry. The institute publication OORJA, the international journal, I 0974-7869 is one such step towards promoting core Research.
I am confident that IIIMites with there honesty and simple minded focus would lead the `change for tomorrow. Our product shall speak for itself such that the world seeks them. I invite corporates to visit our campus and interact with our students for placements and summer training.
