Thoughts on Education system of our country
We need to radically change the primary education pattern with more emphasis on practical work than mere cramming of text books. More hands-on experience to solve problems. Teaching the children to ask questions. And at the same time, training the teachers and accreditation based on their knowledge, skills and teaching styles, with essential component of obtaining scores/points for attending workshops, training programmes, professional conferences, submitting original research work or publishing articles, etc. Every performance is outcome-linked. Putting into place a system for accountability is a must.
Ensuring success
Keeping pace with the change. Continuous learning is the key to grow.
My achievements
There are miles to go before I sleep...
Influenced by
The lives of great men and women, who changed the world with their innovative ideas. Some of my teachers, and my bosses who trained me by pushing me into challenging situations with their firm belief that I would emerge unscathed.
Couple of years from now
Enjoying my life as a professional helping youngsters discover their potential.
Important lesson learned
Learn from the past. Live in the present. Work for the future but not necessarily expecting the results or outcomes that you wish to have.
Brief description about me
A public relations practitioner and communication strategist for brand promotions, perception and crisis management, etc, and a ICF certified executive coach
Degree that I recommend
I did my masters in English Literature and post graduation in mass communication and journalism, followed by professional accreditation.
For any professional it is essential to have the right academic knowledge, necessary skills, networking with diverse professionals to acquire better understanding, and very essentially, following one's professional ethics.
Initiative to develop a country
To consciously understand that each one of us have a purpose to fulfil. Each one has the capacity and power to change and manage the situations. If every professional is honest in performing one's job knowing fully well that each action impacts the life of another individual, India would be a changed place. The need is to realise that even smallest of the acts like driving on the roads, shows the character of a nation. And change that we want to bring about comparable to that of a developed country, would not come because of any outside intervention, but only through our own personal commitment, understanding, and behavior.
My role model
Some of the people who inspired me in certain ways are 10th Guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh, Mahatama Gandhi, J.F.Kennedy, Rotary International President 1991-92 Rajendra K. Saboo.
My strongest skill
Ability to learn and adapt...Listen before speaking...Focussed and confident in any situation.
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
Self-motivated. An understanding of one's own inner potential and belief in one's mission. Ability to listen to others. And living by example...walk the talk, and you will be a leader automatically. No amount of designations, or positions would ever matter, but your own ability to manage yourself in a disciplined way.
Important decision
The most significant decision was setting my own independent consultancy for brand and perception management, without any mentor, 26 years back. And I have never regretted that.
More about myself
To be an entrepreneur or a self-employed professional, the keys to success are self-discipline, continuous learning, acquiring new skills, be ethical, and professionally sound to ensure your client's success.
