Brief description about me

I am working as a Member of Technical Staff in Mirafra Technologies, Bangalore. I am working as a consultant from Mirafra for various semiconductor companies. I have a total experience of 11+ years in this field. Before Mirafra, I was working for Wipro Technolgies for 6 years. Before Wipro, I worked for a research and development organization named NeST R&D, for nearly 4 years. Here in Mirafra, I am taking up the role of an individual contributor.

Challenges in job

Consultants are expected to give outputs from the first day of their assignment in a company. In order to perform like this, we need to be aware of all the latest technologies and tools available in the market. We need to be quick learners and need to adjust to the environment very fast. We need to give interviews more often to clients compared to any other person working in this industry. These all are really demanding skills.

Things that made job easier

I am very much interested in electronics from my childhood. I did my higher secondary from a THSS with electronics and computer science as optional subjects. Later I did my engineering in electronics. So the passion for this subject makes it easier for me to learn new things in this field.

Upcoming Trends

a)The demand is taking us to more complex designs which need to be implemented in less area. The latest smart phones and devices are trying to integrate more and more functions to gain user attention. It can be seen in all new products like, smart phones, set top boxes, lap tops, note books etc. b)The demand is coming from newer geographical areas and consumers are from less privileged places compared to previous times. Earlier much of the demand was from developed countries, now it has changed to other countries.The effect of above two things can be seen in the next couple of years.

My point of View

a) As a country we have got much technical talent. But I feel, we are not getting enough funding for any new ideas being proposed. It is difficult to convince people to put money on any new idea in India. But in other countries especially in the US, it is not the case. This could be one of the reasons. b)Also for every product, there are major players already in the market. To compete with the major players and to come out successful through out the world is a challenge.c) Products need to be generic and should be of use to every part of the world. For example some products like voltage stabilizers and all will have use only in countries like India were there are frequent disturbances in power line. It may not be needed in other countries. So these kind of products may not be recognized beyond India.

Goals and ambitions

To take up more challenging roles in the corporate world. Already I have Worked in a research and development organization for nearly four years. Then I worked another 6 years in a big corporate company. Now I am into a small start up company. So this mix of flavors will give good insight for me to come up with something nice in the future.

Advice to people working in my field

Select a job which he/she is more interested in. Select something which they are more strong at. If you select something which you are more passionate about, it will take you to heights.

Advice to young college students

Take it seriously. Add more values to the college. The placement cell need to work with different companies and the alumni of the college. Get more certifications and recognition for the college. Approach different companies and invite them to the campus. Create more visibility to the college.Contact the alumni of the college who works in well known companies. With their help, have meetings with different companies and establish a relationship.
