My journey in corporate world
Got an offer from TCS in 3rd yr of my B.Tech but since I was an ECE student, I always wanted to work for ECE core sector; after passing out I applied in Nokia Siemens(NSN) & got through the GET program. Worked there from 22/02/2010 to 14/01/2012 then I switched to Ericsson and have been working here
My accomplishments
As a student cracking the Maths Olympiad was a success for me, but professionally getting selected in Nokia Siemens Networks as a GET was not less than an accomplishment. Apart from this, I was selected by Ericsson to lead a telecom project at N. Novgorod, Russia.
Choosing between money and job satisfaction
Job Satisfaction of course. We cant buy satisfaction with money. I would go for a job which offers a quality work, even if remuneration is less because it will offer a better career growth.
My role
Currently I am working in Ericsson in NSG(Network Support Group) core team. We operate, configure, troubleshoot and maintain the telecom networks of various operators like Vodafone, Bharti, Idea, TATA, Uninor, Reliance etc.
Specialization area in Embedded systems
Embedded systems will grow in automobiles, tractors, HDTVs, DVRs, GPSs, internet routers, cell phones, ambient intelligence applications etc
My advice
They shall try to excel in the domain they are supposed to work, it should be like a give and take relation with the organization. As a fresher, money should not matter for them, learning should be the motto.
After few years
A technical lead, a subject matter expert or equivalent in the organization, holding an in depth knowledge of the domain in which I am working right now.
My Important role
It was a case of emergency when about all the calls from a mobile exchange were failing and I had come out with a noble idea to recover from the situation; I worked proactively and overcame the ugly situation. I was applauded by the team lead.
Scope of embedded systems
It is indeed the future of technology.
My recommendation
Linkedin.com, knowledgespeak.com, technologyreview.com etc
semiconductor-today.com & "chips" magazine for embedded systems
My prospective on India technological development
People working in research and development have to be more active. In India, most of the organizations and working on ctrl+C & ctrl+V logic, which is leading to a blockage in ideas. Creative thinking should be encouraged. We need to work out with "quality" factor, as we have enough of "quantity"
My family background
My grand father was a teacher, my dad is also a teacher in a central govt. institution, my mom manages the house. I have got two brothers, one is working with State bank of India and the other is pursuing B.Tech.
Role model
"Eric Schmidt", a software engineer, businessman & the Executive Chairman of Google. He has all the power to realize and make the dreams come true. Has coined a team called "google" which is leading the IT industry, with all the innovations.
