Currently Working

Head the operations of the department engaged in undertaking
all electrical functions related to construction, fitting out,
overseeing and quality assurance of ships under construction and
undergoing refits/repairs at M/s Mazagon Dock Limited
(MDL). Monitor progress of the ships under construction
/repair and institute corrective measures to meet build strategy.
Provide onsite and customised system solutions for
design/construction related issues. Identify latest trends
and technologies in the filed of electrical and electronic
systems and make recommendations for their procurement.
Monitor expenditure and exercise cost control for ships
under construction/repairs. Administrative functions for
smooth functioning of the Naval Inspection Team and all matters
related to personnel administration. Lead, motivate and
develop a technical team of four Officers and twenty-three
supervisors.

July 2003

As Departmental Head- Ensured that all ship’s electrical
systems / services and equipments were available for optimal
exploitation enabling the ship to meet mission commitments at
sea. Planned and scheduled the system/equipment maintenance
restricting downtime to the bare minimum possible. Executed
emergency repairs to complex state of the art equipment in most
challenging conditions. Conducted installation studies for
mid-life update of four major ship systems. Managed a team of
three officers and fifty highly skilled technicians.

Planned scheduled and conducted Shipborne equipment and system
training for operators and maintainers to achieve optimum
utilisation. Monitor and inculcate appropriate operation,
maintenance and repair philosophy among the ships
crew. Undertook technical inspections and causative analysis
for repetitive equipments and systems
failures/defects. Promulgated preventive measures for
ensuring safe working protocols for equipment and
personnel. Recommended Additions and alterations/
modifications/ replacements of equipment keeping with the
advancements in technology.

Manager Planning & Coordination at Indian Navy - Naval Repair yard , Visakhapatnam

January 2001

Planned and coordinated refit related activities comprising
preparation of detailed scope of work, master route sheets, work
instructions and spares forecast lists; development of milestones
and PERTs using project management tools for refit progress
monitoring and control. Controlled and directed Dockyard
resources to achieve scheduled completion of quality refits of
ships of Eastern Flotilla with special emphasis on cost
effectiveness and high productivity. Eliminated re-work in
repairs with focused attention to details, adherence to laid down
engineering practices and meticulous resource management thereby
increased customer satisfaction. Developed technical and
commercial specifications to invite bids for outsourcing work.
