Could you tell us briefly about your family background?

Belonging to rural area of India, my family consists of My Father, Mother Two elder brothers and I, the youngest one. Mother and Father are in State Govt. Service, Eldest brother in business, second brother is Studying and I am working with NHPC Limited as Engineer (Civil), thus serving my country.

Role Model:

I got my inspiration from flow of water (River). It gets its way in every situation and keeps on moving forward sometimes rapidly sometimes slowly, depending on situations and constraints.

Changes In The Professional Environment:

At the time of my joining, everyone took me seriously and I had given a lot of work to do. I did it well and still everyone trusts my works thus I am always being entrusted with a lot of works of my office. As much work you do, that much work you get to do.

Working Life Management:

I have a rule to come on time and go on time. I work for duty hours with full devotion and dedication leaving no work pending for tomorrow and every night I have a plan of works to do next day with some time flexibility for contingencies or unexpected works.

Contribution to the field

My company is a PSU of Central Govt. exploring hydro power potential of India and producing green power to enlighten the homes of Indians and friend countries like Bhutan. It produces pollution free power from energy of Sun via water cycle making it a life long source of energy on earth.

Done Differently:

Along with technical aspects, I would like to improve my group and Industrial Behaviour from beginning. I would like to develop a balanced personality and approach regarding people and process oriented behaviour.

Job Profile:

Being a civil engineer, I monitor the survey and investigation works of projects under my regional office. I also monitor the construction activities going on at the projects alongwith contracts and tenders related activities.

Other Thoughts:

In any organisation, if you want from your senior to behave in certain way, put an example to him/her by behaving in that way to your subordinates. Take only that much work, which you can finish smartly well before time. Always try to give 100% of your efficiency and keep your personal life apart.

Growth Strategy:

I always pass orders in easy ways to my subordinates and keep on reviewing the work I entrusted to them with appreciation for smart work and training for lagging's. I select people smartly for works to be entrusted.

Prized Accomplishment(s):

In a life span of 23 years, I am on the post of Engineer Civil in such a reputed company. My works make me feel proud. I am handling efficiently the monitoring activities of three projects.

The Decisions That Matter

Being a Civil Engineer, I have decided to be in the core of Civil Engineering i.e. construction field. I refused many managerial posts in the way. But now, I am satisfied with the works I do and that think is more important than anything.

Career Profile:

Currently I am monitoring the activities of three hydro projects consisting of total construction cost of around 35000 crores. Monitoring and time to time taking smart decisions with top management during this process is very important and requires a very responsible person.

Required Reading:

Text books very first smartly, then some books on organisational behaviour. Websites like siliconindia blogs, Wikipedia etc. Publications like journals on various subjects from good publications.

Plans For The Future:

I would like to be in the same company dedicate myself completely to get these projects under operation as soon as possible. I think I will be some managerial level above Manager (Civil) thus will be at some decision making levels.
