Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
I come from a typical Indian middleclass family that dreams of a comfortable life through having a good job. Presently my family includes my parents, siblings, wife and son.
Parting thoughts
No
Most Important Decisions
Working in the Delivery line to deciding to pursue MBA and then move across to the Business Development line.
Changes in the industry
When I started QA/testing was perceived as the second fiddle to Development. The atomosphere was such that people who dodn't do well in Development were thrown into doing QA. But it has come along a long way now, when bright folks choose a career in QA.
Areas for the Future
Non-Functional testing, Estimations and Test Automation(regression suites) are the 3 areas that I think will matter most.
Current and Previous Responsibilities
Currently I am into Business Development and more into front-end or direct interaction with our organization's customers. In previous profiles I have worked in Pre-sales thereby supporting the Sales team and previous to that I was working as a Project Lead of QA projects(pre-MBA).
Required Reading
In today's world with your day getting shortened each day with increasing work-load and personal expectations, I think the best way to keep onself updated with latest happenings is through discussion forums and regular newsletters. One can choose these forums according to one's appetite.
Tech trends to watch out for
more and more of Automation and sceintific estimation. from a career standpoint it means that technology is getting more and more into testing. Previously it was mostly about domain knowledge but going ahead technology learning is becoming a must in QA.
Plans for the Future
This is a question I would not answer because I never think around these lines. This limits my thoughts and vision. I would rather just jump into the woods and go around and see rather forming a narrow vision of where I want to be.
Currently working at
I am into managing key clients which means I keep interacting with my organization's key customers and my key responsibility is to make sure that they are happy or their dis-satisfaction, if any, is handled in a timely and effective manner. Aim is to get more of their wallet share.
Role Model
It's not a person but a role that is my role model. It's still the middle-class family man who has a lot of responsibilities and expectations but low on resources. The amazing resource management, prioritization, crucial investment, measured enjoyment and an undying spirit for a better tomorrow.
A Fine Balance:
In my current profile I love to do what I do. My wife is also in software QA delivery. My current orzanization is very flexible and it allows me to decide how best to allocate my time to my professional demands and personal demands.
The Journey So Far
After my BTech from NIT Rourkela, I joined Infosys in campus placement. I was QA Projects Lead, when I left Infosys to do MBA from SPJain, Mumbai. Post MBA I worked in L&T Infotech in Presales. Then since the last one and half years I am working in Mindfire Solutions as Senior Manager, Global Sales.
